Build said iron lung support systems into military vehicles. Whether those are tankettes or W40k style dreadnaught walkers is a matter of choice and/or level of technological investment. Ditto for tongue & eyeball tracking based controls versus nerve implants.

Which reminds me of the court case where a couple were caught having sex in the toilets of a private club; he was suspended for a month & she was expelled. She brought sex discrimination case; the club defended on the basis that they were in the *gents* toilets, had it been the *ladies* she would have been suspended & he expelled.

(Unisex toilets solve so many problems)

Yes, the TL where the Treaty of Union created a federal state of England, Netherlands, Scotland (& latterly Ireland) resulting in an enduring white supremacist Empire still controlling over three-quarters of the world in the C21st isn't the best one. Especially with the increase in early industrialisation bringing about massive climate change half a century earlier.

The "North Britain" strategy. Its return matches the change in Unionism: it used to be that mainstream Scottish Unionists accepted that Scotland was a nation with its own culture, etc. but argued the best option for that nation was to remain within the UK. As that argument has become visibly more untenable, it has switched to a British Nationalist position, that the UK consists of a single British nation, administratively divided into historical regions.
