So what's the action? My most recent is that I wrote my two Democratic Senators and told them I'm changing my registration to Independent if Schumer is still Leader after the California midterms. Which means I'll be an Independent for the general, of course. Which is fine. They own a big part of how we got here as becomes more clear every day. I'm grinding every single day: protests, donations, everything I can do. It's a grind. This is going to be a grind. #uspol

I've had a pretty disturbing exchange with a member of my Rotary Club recently on the subject of AI which made me realize that the same propaganda and misinformation vectors that were used to convince a lot of Americans that it was a good idea to elect Trump (twice) are now being repurposed to convince them that ChatGPT and such are good, actually. I had someone lie to me repeatedly when I challenged the quality of some work they did using the platform. Cult-like behavior. Wild.

Today you had Jason Stanley on your show. One of those cowardly professors of authoritarianism who high-tailed it out of our country when Trump took power. He just said, when discussing the Trump regime's assault on media and the firing of Kimmel, that this action shows that "Free speech is no longer an American value." I was once contacted by a recruiter, and being finally fed up with my employer at the time, I agreed to a meeting. My future boss's boss asked me right off the bat why I wanted to join their company. I looked him dead in the eye and said, "You called me."

They did offer the job, and I did take it, but it didn't last and I've been self employed for almost 20 years now. I could have made a ton more money if I'd stuck it out but I prefer not to deal with corporate bullshit.

This Epstein Files detonation isn't exactly about the Epstein Files. MAGA information insularity is part of how the cult is controlled but things under Trump have gotten so bad, so fast that most MAGA cannot fail to see it. Maybe a neighbor was detained by ICE. Or you know someone affected by the Texas flood. Or you're a Social Security recipient who can't get the help you need. You need a psychologically safe was to step out of the cult. Well if Xi was serious about wanting to invade Taiwan now would be the time to do it. Everyone knows Trump is a coward. But Russia's too weakened by a failed war in Ukraine to credibly threaten to take on Europe. This is of a piece with another recent rumor that "China can't let Putin lose the Ukraine war". Puffing themselves up, probably to scare Trump.

I called my Congressman's office today and said that if Dems get a chance to negotiate on this bill I want him to fight against the money for ICE and #AlligatorAuschwitz. I cannot believe how obvious this is and yet so many in the commentariat - even the anti-Trump media - keep saying things like "his tarrif obsession is hard to explain. Why is he attacking our allies?"
