    It appears, UK Prime Minister Starmer still has not understood, the US is out of the alliance. Starmer:

    "The UK will work to ensure we keep the US and Europe together. We cannot allow any divisions in the alliance to distract from the external enemies we face."

    In my view, the solution is not to fantasize that Trump could be Biden. The solution is to realize that the US that was is gone, and Europe must now carry the torch of freedom on its own.

      @randahl I mean, given our history (not to mention the general apathy if not outright support towards Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people and our shocking treatment of refugees), I wouldn’t bang on about “the torch of freedom” but the first point stands. At least we haven’t succumbed to outright fascism yet and we should try and protect that state of affairs.

      @randahl totally on point. I had high hopes for Starmer. In terms of integrity he is an improvement. But this is just naive. US has made a choice to side with the enemy. We need GB back in the EU. We need them as much as they need us.

      @Charp @randahl Starmer has about as much integrity as a coin-operated vending machine.

      @mmol @hotsause @randahl

      Are you aware that Russia was phoning bomb threats into polling stations in Georgia? Closing voting in those neighborhoods "for a while"? Would you go back to vote after that? Are you aware of the long lines in early voting? Lots of Democratic voters can't afford a 3 hour or longer wait because they need every dollar they can earn for their families. These lines are created by Republicans to harm our voters. We have been attacked from a distance and from within.

      @randahl Americans have made it crystal clear who their friends and allies are. Plot twist: the EU and Canada are surely not on the list.

      Instead of trying to fix what Americans have broken, we should focus on how to make Europe truly independent and resilient to all external threats, including the ones coming from ex-allies.

      I want to point out that we are in the midst of fighting a coup d'etat over here so there really isn't a sense in which Americans "chose" what is happening to us and the world right now. Less than half of voters who showed up on November 5th chose Trump, and only a fraction of them support anything like what's happened since he took office. We have been attacked relentlessly by Russian propaganda. In that sense, this is what Putin chose. We're trying over here. Wish us luck.

      @jawarajabbi @hotsause @randahl I'm 100% with you, but voter turn out for #kamala could have been greater if enough US Americans would just have voted for her instead of staying home. - Seeing this threat coming from a large distance...
