The most beautiful aspect of the Olympics is the sport's ethic. Respect, comraderie, friendliness, fairness, support, even at such high-stakes levels of competition. Politicians could learn a lot from these athletes. We all could.

I've seen a Black-identified account recently mention a high level of racist posts in their timeline, but I couldn't see it. Recently I started using the option on some posts to message only the account mentioned (when it's something sensitive like "hey, you might want to use alt-text"). I only just realized that's what's happening: bad actors are using this feature for various types of harassment. Something you folks might want to think about. @Gargron

Nope. It has to be Harris. Black voters and women are the base of this party. I was on a Biden phone bank training and it was 60% Women and 40% black volunteers. They don't hand it to Harris it's game over.

This is very easily explained by the fact that most average citizens in the US and EU are not terribly informed about international relations and the stakes of capitulation and so when asked the misleading question:"Would you like the war to end?" They say, "Yeah, sure".

And then Russian disinformation agents, some of who are - ahem - present on this platform use these false numbers in a disinformation campaign.

Exactly. It's still door knocking, phone banking, donating.... whatever each of us can do. Whenever a friend expresses high anxiety or fear of the situation I always say "This year it's not enough just to vote. You have to do something else, no matter how small."

You are exactly correct about this and I probably didn't want to think about it but now that we got the right outcome..
I have a friend who has been right about Trump's ascendance since 2015. Even 2020's win didn't shake her sense of doom because it was so close and so weird. Yesterday's verdict really, really gave her hope. Onward! Everbody keep rowing!

I own a small business and we have always used Microsoft and a decade ago migrated to their cloud and our clients' financial information is stored there. Our IT guys have said we're fine unless we sign up for some specialized AI service where they'll thereby get permission but yikes. The company has gone from mildly annoying but functional to aggressive and in my face overnight. It's terrifying but I don't see it as practical to go anywhere else. I hate it here. #AI #Microsoft

The plan is to keep the government operating until November. That's the plan. It's up to voters to do their part next and vote like hell - Democrats all the way down the ballot - in order to get unified control of government. Then Biden + Jeffries will lead SCOTUS reform, Roe into law, comprehensive (and sensible) immigration reform, taxing the rich and corporations, and restoring voting rights. I used to work in banking and I've thought for decades that tellers should unionize. They are the truly downtrodden and abused staff in a ethically questionable industry from top to bottom.
