     I'm pretty certain that (a) the USA will hold a presidential election in 2028, and (b) there's *plenty* of time between now and then to ensure the outcome goes the way the then-dominant faction wants it to go, either by constitutional amendments or voter suppression or whatever.

     Even the USSR held democratic elections! It's just, the ruling party always won.

     @jawarajabbi @cstross trump won because he is who people wanted. at some point we need to accept this is who we are.

     in the mean time, the biden admin is still sending bombs to the wrong side of a genocide. that's your best good guy right there.

     Voter suppression already has worked. In 2024. I'm pretty sure those long-ass lines in early voting in swing states convinced voters that either (a) they shouldn't try to vote because they don't have the time or strength to endure the lines and/or (b) the long lines convinced them that the Democrats were going to win easily and so they didn't need to hassle with voting. And here we are.
