Yesterday, I met a Lyft driver from Afghanistan who told me that he worked with the U.S. Army, but had to leave after the Taliban took over, & that the Taliban executed his father, & some of his other relatives. He told me that he likes America but he is seriously considering moving back to Afghanistan because things are so expensive here. I was able to raise enough money via Bluesky to give him $223 but I'm still shook that this man has sacrificed so much for this bullshit country & (cont)

My friend @Aseelsehwel lives in Gaza, & she & her brother are currently trying to raise money to feed their family, care for their father who is suffering from kidney complications, & eventually leave Gaza for Egypt. They are a family of 6 & it looks like their estimated costs to cover everything would be £10,000.00. So far they are at £9,848. Can we try to get them over the finish line?
