@LRRRonEarth What does this mean?
The latter was executed, right? But it's not about this, or is it?

@GreenSkyOverMe @LRRRonEarth Trump. It's about Trump. Though he's less Sun King and more Bronzer King.

THE TRANSITION FROM "WIELDING SUPREME POWER AS THE INESCAPABLE CENTER OF ATTENTION" TO "INCOMPETENT, OUT OF TOUCH SHITHEAD WHO COMPOUNDS HIS OWN WORST IMPULSES" IS GOING GREAT.

@HighlandLawyer @jef @cstross @LRRRonEarth @ainmosni I say let's ditch the guillotine and do it Eurovision style: a huge blender you throw people into while a group act wearing really weird wigs and glasses is dancing on top of the lid to a sugary melodic techno tune. We can do quals, semifinals, finals, then at the end countries vote which one gets to kill Musk or whoever happens to be the richest at the moment.

About 3 thousand worldwide isn't it? So assuming 15 mins to walk each one up to the chopping block, do the deed, then clear up for the next that would be 750 hours, or just over a month continually.
Realistically therefore you're going to need multiple devices- 63 or 64 if you want to get through them all in a single day. -

@cstross @LRRRonEarth @ainmosni There aren't that many billionaires, one Mr. Choppy could take care of all of them in an afternoon - except for the issue of getting them there. That's why we need wealth-seeking guillotine drones.

@Infoseepage @HighlandLawyer @jef @LRRRonEarth @ainmosni $50M may be too low: there are large chunks of major cities where $50M won't buy you a medium-scale family home (not a McMansion: a 4-bed 2-bath semi with a small garden ... in the wrong parts of central London). Exclude the primary home frokm that $50M and I'll join the bandwagon.

Defining "primary home" as the smallest residential property one owns; otherwise rule lawyering would result in mega-complexes being built as the "home", & separately massive inflation of property prices. -

@HighlandLawyer @Infoseepage @jef @LRRRonEarth @ainmosni A ~Trump would rules-lawyer it by building a thousand-bed hotel in downtown Manhattan and declaring the penthouse suite his primary residence, yes.

@LRRRonEarth It’s fine. I didn’t know enough. I was like: XIV … sun king .… fits Trump. XVI … uh … beheaded? What else? Is this still about Trump? Maybe Musk? The future? I didn’t remember anything about the mismanagement. It fits very well.

Ooc: it is very clearly about Trump, and it's not subtle. The Sun King made himself the center of French civic, cultural, and political life. Similarly, Trump has been the focus of an absurd amount of attention, good and bad, for decades as a social, political, and business figure. Louis XVI mismanaged domestic politics and responded badly to real and perceived threats. The similarities can grow from here.
