    @GossiTheDog I actually blame everything on Bill Gates myself. His was the first really evil squash-everyone-and-take-all-the-money company, the rest have followed the model.

    The recent spate of bullshit business models I think is due to the availability of investment apps which give access to the stock markets to people who just don't have a clue; these are the real customers (products) of the all-money grabbers.

    @dalias @burger @masklayer I don't disagree with you, but then I don't care about this non-issue. If I could get USB-C memory sticks I would.

    I would also note that all the cables I have have 'sticks' at each end which protrude rigidly from the laptop.

    @janneke @tusharhero So you bind 'facebook' to a list of sites, and pass that as a parameter. Am I missing something?

    @janneke @tusharhero This is great and -- a bit weird? It feels like 'facebook' should be a parameter, and the mechanism should be available for other cases.

    @GossiTheDog "Similar with official mobile apps, there's no privacy agreements etc in the app stores as there's no third party tracking."

    What? I thought the reason they try to coerce you into using mobile apps is precisely because they (and Google, the NSA, etc) can track you, without needing cookies and thereby side-stepping the law. Don't they all insist on Google Play Services (a binary black box) so that your information can be shared between apps?

    No, it doesn't. The 'weakness' is in the protocol. All of ActivityPub is designed around the idea that it is a *broadcast* medium.

    @GossiTheDog Ah, I see I misunderstood your question, I thought you were asking, 'Why are JLR taking the lead?' not, 'Why is the JLR lead not working?'

    @highergeometer Well, I agree with the second term. Once a manuscript is accepted, it becomes an immutable, historical document. If it contains mistakes, they may be corrected in subsequent correspondence, but the record must stand as provenance of the historical development of the subject area.
