I am thinking more aggressive, like a civilian police action would be in response to something like 9/11. It was a political 9/11 with domestic terror actors.

First of all, they should have kettled the insurrectionists out of the Capitol and arrested them all, processed finger printing and other biometrics. Then after 1/20, conducted extensive and aggressive FBI inquiries into all of the people. It was essentially a law and order emergency.

In any functioning country, after Jan 6, 2021, there would have been sweeping raids, the kind of raids the fascists dream about re: immigrants, that should have cleaned up the treasonous and insurrectionist feelings out of everyone like the Boers who said they were all against the apartheid the whole time. A purge of Nazis, fascists, insurrectionists and actual terrorists. Biden lost that opportunity.

In India, similar, but then the election commission is required to provide free election identification documents for voters.

In the US, the ID must be current, i.e. at current address, paid for by yourself. It can take a few hours to get one, and take $20 or more per person, so poor people that don't drive and move often from one rental dwelling to another have to spend a significant amount of time and money to get 'acceptable' id. Student id 🚫 gun owner id ✅

After sustained inflation in all expenditure categories, the baseline prices are already too high and most employers have not given their employees cost of living adjustments, minimum wages have not been updated for 15 years. The vibes are vibes for the privileged but crushing poverty for those who aren't. The economic relief from public expenditure in 2020-2021 was helpful but there needs to be more salve for the wounds of the poor.

American standards of who to vote for in presidential elections are like limbo. To say you won't vote for someone engaging in genocide and a bunch of other inhumane stuff is considered asking for saints to run for office (my words). How absurd!

I claim to do nothing like that. It is rather the blind support for Biden out of fear of Trump that is making so many people deaf to the harms visited upon others in our names. Put him on notice, put his party on notice. Voting for Biden is to let it keep burning, a bit faster even, voting for Trump is worse, it's more accelerationist. I demand better choices.

@GottaLaff there will be so many dead children and dead people, broken humans, shattered families, burned dreams, WCNSFs, heartbroken fathers/mothers/grandparents with no surviving family, so many that will succumb to diseases, so many to terror, so many to heartbreak.

Shame that the governments that can bring a stop to this, won't do it.

The non communal (i.e. Non Hindu-fascist, totalitarian) political parties kept warning people of the riot wing agenda and when in power they didn't do enough (enough) to meaningfully change the circumstances. Later on the fascists (BJP and its ideological allies) became invincible because people didn't trust the 'boy who called wolf' (the boy was right each time, in this case the wolf would don sheep's clothing when people showed up). It no longer matters to the people that the BJP are the wolf.

There is a lesson here for the Democrats. If you act Republican light, people will go for the real thing. Don't build a fucking wall, don't stand by and continue to allow the genocide in Palestine. This is what the layman calls authenticity, they know the right is awful, they hear them say it and they can parse it. What they don't like is feeling like they were deceived. Especially people that keep voting for you because they know the other side is fascist.

@inthehands @MisuseCase @chargrille I watched the frontline documentary on the peace process and how it was derailed by Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu is starkly visible, after all that Madeline Albright still had the temerity to blame Arafat for the collapse of the peace process.

If Hamas is using Palestinian civilians as human shields, you don't go around killing those people because they are human and not just shields.

This isn't hard.
