Mask blocs have been doing heroic work distributing tens of thousands of masks to communities exposed to dangerous wildfire smoke. This is incredible, but we should also be outraged that it has been left to people with limited resources who have been abandoned by the state to do this critical work.

Please donate to mask blocs and support their work, and call your electeds and urge them to implement a permanent free N95 distribution program.

N95 masks protect against wildfire smoke, airborne viruses, and more. They are an essential public health tool. Like condoms and many other public health tools, the government should make N95 masks free and easily accessible to the public throughout the year.

It's critical that governments get PERMANENT year-round free N95 mask programs in place. Waiting until a wildfire or an outbreak to distribute free masks is too late. People need to have access to the tools that will protect them in advance of being exposed to the threat.
