   I am uninterested in discussion of whether and how Nikki Haley can with the Republican nomination. She can’t. She doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.

   The only news about Nikki Haley I’m actually interested in is whether, once she’s lost, she’s willing to go to the mat to use the GOP support she’s built (which is small but nonzero) to shave, say, 3–5% off Trump’s support in the general election.

   That’s it. That’s the one thing useful thing she can do. Spare me the rest.

     Agreed, she’s almost certainly going to turn around and endorse Trump the second she entered campaign. But campaigning against him in the general is, unlike winning, a choice that is actually on the table for her.

     To be clear, I don’t expect Nikki Haley to actually do this. She has her own hide to think of, and that means backing Trump the second she drops out.

     I’m not saying she •will•. I’m saying she •can•. Damaging Trump’s chances is something that, unlike winning the primary, is actually on the table for her.
