At the regional level, Interstate highways + big, comfortable cars + lots of parking mean driving is usually the fastest, cheapest and most convenient way to get somewhere. By the time driving is annoying, you might as well fly… and rent a car once you get there.

@patterfloof I would love to have more trains in the US. They face a lot of practical headwinds though, if only because we have a ton of good car infrastructure.

I like the idea of citing your tools. I’m not aware of standards for how to do that. Perhaps you could provide an example?

I think “if AI is used to generate any content that you turn in” is kinda ambiguous. If someone accepts a spell check recommendation, does that count? What about a simplification from Grammarly or Hemingway?

Anyone yeeting assignments at ChatGPT and directly submitting the results is wasting their education. I think this page would benefit from a discussion about the POINT of writing assignments, explaining how your policy supports the students’ goals.

Your site warns the API is unstable until version 1. When are you hoping to hit that?

Have you seen https://podcastindex.org/ ? Neat project creating an open alternative to Apple’s podcast index, which is a problematic de facto centralization point for the ecosystem.

@tootapp link preview for this post is a bunch of HTML vomit. Looks ok in Ivory and Tusker, so I suspect a client side issue.

@darnell @christianholt @eff neat, thanks @nova ! Hey @quintessence - the current doctree is all Hachyderm specific. If expanding the scope to "Arch Wiki of Mastodon", recommend some additional namespaces. Perhaps (1) Hachyderm Docs (2) Fediverse Operations Manual ?

@darnell @christianholt @eff we need a wiki somewhere to collect these perspectives and ensure they’re available to folks like @nova who are pondering the next rev of the legal structure for their instances. DMCA registration is another key issue I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere.
