Want to help out with development of Toot!? I have been doing some large internal rewriting, and probably introduced some exciting new bugs in the process, so I thought it might be best to do a public beta for this version to shake them out a bit before release.
* You can now select your language when posting, to let others filter and translate toots better! Or, if you do not select anything, the language will be set according to your keyboard language. * You can now select text from toots after you open them. * Adding line breaks and pasting them in image descriptions should work now. * Fixed an animation glitch on the buttons below toots. * A rare crash when viewing direct messages has been fixed. * A crash when playing audio has possibly been fixed.
This was meant to be the translation release, but the only bigger feature that made it in was selecting language when posting, as that feature turned out to be way more complicated to get right than I expected. Still not sure it's quite right, so let me know how it works out for you!
Other than that, this release has mainly bugfixes, and an experimental ability to select text in toots after you open them.
Also, this version also includes a slightly experimental feature to switch to using the OpenDyslexic font which is meant to help dyslexic readers. If that's you, please try turning it on in the Toot! settings and let me know if it helps you, if it needs some adjustments, or if it's useless.
This version mainly features one new addition: Support for Dynamic Type, meaning Toot! will now respect your font size settings in iOS.
This required quite a lot of reworking of internals, so this version is rolling out through a one-week phased release. If you don't absolutely want the dynamic text size, there's no rush to get it, so I recommend leaving it to install on schedule.
The full change list contains a few more small things:
* Support for iOS Dynamic Type. Toot! will now use your font size settings to adjust its text size! * Added an switch to use the OpenDyslexic font to help readers with dyslexia. * When posting multi-part toots, your reply visibility will be automatically used for replies, unless you select otherwise. * Dark mode launch screen to be less blinding. * Small bugfixes and tweaks, but also probably new bugs.
The tentative features for the next release are probably language-related, and maybe the Explore timeline if I can fit it in somewhere? That should mostly complete the catchup with Mastodon 4 other than the new filter API, which I will probably delay until Mastodon 4 is widely deployed.
This is the third in a series of releases that implement support for new Mastodon features. More will come in the near future, but this version offers:
* New photo picker with proper support for albums (iOS 15 and up only!) * You can now opt in to getting notifications every time a user posts. * View the edit history of toots. * Support for adding private notes for other accounts. * Some bugfixes and internal improvements.
This is the second in a series of releases that implement support for new Mastodon features. More will come in the near future, but this version offers:
* Support for different limits on different servers. Some servers allow longer toots, more attachments, or more poll options. * Support for editing your toots if your server is on Mastodon 4.0.
This is the first in a series of releases that implement support for new Mastodon features. More will come in the near future, but this version offers:
* Full support for all new types of notifications in Mastodon 4.0, including admin notifications. * Updated to use more modern versions of various iOS functionality. As a result, however, the minimum supported iOS version is now 13. * Bugfixes.
And welcome to the new users, of which there are... quite many, aren't there?
As you may have noticed, this project has been on a bit of a hiatus for a while. This is something I work on in my free time, and I got a bit burned out on working on it, and wanted to use my free time for other stuff. But with this recent influx of so many new users, I figured I do need to come back to this.
So I am planning to at least release some smaller updates in the near future!
