@Turkleton WTF? how can that happen an entire russian batallion wiped out. I saw pictures of the convoy after it had been spotted, observed, geolocated, and troop size was evaluated. They had at least an hour to disperse, i refuse to believe they didn't know they had been spotted, when i had the info in germany over public channels before the strike.
I'm not secretive about my stance pro Ukraine for reasons, but like how can the russian military leadership let that happen... A battallion... Hell 50 men would be too much... Why do people still idolize them.

For reference this is a pro russian mil. blogger reporting in the screenshot.

@KyotoSong @Turkleton I understand 100% and don't disagree, just my humanistic upbringing forces me to have compassion for the enemy and understand they were there because they were following orders. I'm mad about the orders.
Of course ukraine has any right to strike the enemy wherever it can and as effective as they can!

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @KyotoSong @Turkleton I contemplate multiple scenarios as possible at the same time, but my most likelyone at least for the moment as a cause of this all is trauma in the russian collective consciousness over the fall of the soviet union.
I have lots of contact to russians. Many are nationalistic so they don't mourne the loss of the soviet union and hate putin for being the soviet communist remain he is, but the more general russian types are under the illusion that they had single handedly defeated the Nazis in 1945 and ruled the world until 1990 when they got betrayed by Gorbatchev who was a "puppet of the queen of england and Nato" and their beloved soviet union got dissolved, and they wanna bring the good old days back because they forgott how fucked up the constant lack of everything, surveillance, brainwashing, and people disappearing without notice was.
Thats what i see in the used symbolism, and the russian internal propaganda which is totally different from what the russian channels and outlets directed at the west are saying.

I wouldn't rule out that this is just a smoke screen for a superior goal like a slavik or european meat grinder. What i can say is that the ukrainian will to defend their homeland is genuine, even more since they had successes. If there is a slavic meatgrinder happening both sides are willing to participate to a certain degree.
Same as France and Germany were both willing to pump blood into Verdun over 100 years ago.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @J @cowanon @Turkleton I don't wanna be anti, but as you asked me like a week ago, about germanies perspective on hesychiasm, I think i now can give you an outlook. Culturally the Benediktin ora et labora tradition . is very much engraved into us, with a lot less focus on the ora part. We consider productive labour to be what god pleases, because he gave us the capability and means to do so.
I think we would probably view it as laziness or sloth. That might come from a tradition of clerics which liked easy living a lot while preaching that humans must work to pay back the primal sin eva brought onto us.
The greatest gift god awarded to only humans among his earthly creations is creativity. Maybe it's a fallacy or i'm missing the point but i think subconsciously and independent of religion we would always favour being productive and helping humanity prosper as a way to experience divinity over egocentrical practices like yoga or meditation, because that will just benefit the practitioner himself if at all.. We simply favour the bold and hard working.
I have not looked further into hesychianism, and i don't think more than a handfull of germans would be able to explain it correctly, but to an uneducated german, which would likely have stopped reading the Tl;dr after the first paragraph as it sounds like some sort of hippie hocus pocus to a german ear, and everybody knows, that that kinda stuff leads to veganism and putting stuff your butthole. It sounds like dudes trying to avoid having to work by making up claims it would enable them to talk to and experience the allmighty himself...

It would probably need lots of convincing to even just propose it.

BUT!!! I'm like 99% sure i got it wrong and don't actually understand or know anything about it. This is not criticism of the practice, it's the assumed outcome of what proposing accepting and followng hechyanism to germans would result in.

@LawrenceGerald @J @cowanon @KingOfWhiteAmerica @Turkleton Sorry for the unqualified iterjection but reading through my mentions makes me feel like reading through one of my 90s fantasy books where wizards, magicians, witches and necromancers were constantly beefing on who the strongest spells had, and what the others did wrong... I can't talk on orthodoxy, but in general debates like that are basically non existant in germany. when they happen, usually and american is involved. To us religion is a private matter, and how it is practiced, is the responsibility of the practitioner. We very much think living your life in a way that you imagine would please god is worship, and prayer is for the practitioner, to ease the consciousness and ask for help and protection for friends and family. The ritual prayers are losing their importance more and more.
It's weird, and from my perspective it seems like the approach towards religion and practice is almost antithetical

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @LawrenceGerald @J @cowanon @Turkleton that was not meant as an insult. There is nothing wrong with putting that type of effort into something you perceive as that importatnt for your way of life. I just meant nobody i know IRL is doing that. From my perspective that stuff just really is discussed on the internet and mostly by americans. Most people who would describe themselves as religious are totally fine with simply believing in a creator deity that loves them and died for all our sins. Church has much more of a cultural and community meaning here. We have no adult bible study groups uhm.., well they exist but they all are operated by cults or weird subsection like Opus Dei.

if i needed to describe the sentiment here it's rather like we think god is allmighty and doesn't need us casting spells absolutely correctly to worship and please him... we rather assume he likes people living to his rules and following the teachings... and we actually just don't question it, because we like it comfy when it comes to religion...
We are way more milk toast than you guys in matters of christianity.

Eastern germany is a tragedy. The guys you call based had a divorce rate of 30% back in 1975.
I don't know if you just have a desire for punishment, surveillance, constant lack of supplies and obedience, but east germany was nothing like you presented it...
They didn't have color tv in the 80s, watching non approved channels got you a ride to re-education in Bauzen.
Here some actual footage of life in eastern germany, and no it did not look like that on the other side of the fence where no minefields and and automated machine gun turrets were pointed at civillians to keep them from fleeing this apparent absolute paradise.
Also the stuff with gays and faggots is simply wrong, eastern germany removed the law that outlawed homosexuality in 1968, while West germany only followed in 1994 (see attached wikipage for proof)!!!!!!!!!!!
You actually sound a little like Euronymus, the guittarist of Mayhem, who was a Erich Honecker and East germany stan, because the system was so inhumane and brutal, and he hated humanity that much that he wished the whole world had to suffer under it.

small collection of pre 1989 footage, don't get fooled but it being black and white, only party members, state press and intelligence had access to color photo films.
also for reference i added a picture of what the NVA really looked like!

It's just the hybris of modern humans, who think we must now be so much smarter than our ancestors.
I got cured of that idea, when i was learning for my Infinitesimal calculation / Analysis Abitur exam. I am class of 2001, so we were allowed to use non programmable scientific calculators. On one day i thought aah common, easy going lets try one of the exams from the 50s...
I couldn't answer one single question using the calculator that those guys back then didn't have.
It's complete lunacy that contemporary humans think they were smarter than all our forefathers combined, who agreed on certain stuff, like keeping women out of politics, and not letting uncounted numbers of jungle creatures roam freely in your society... but you know contemporary humans read the summary of 1 book and think they can now solve all the problems no one before them could solve with amazing solutions like "Wooooooah, if we stop being assholes and are more accepting to wankers and outcasts, the world is gonna be totally silky smooth and sparkly" or the classic "If we take away all guns, people would totally stop killing each other and withing weeks we would have world peace and then we finally can have all the butt sex possible!"
Anyway, don't look for answers from the guys who couldn't keep their dystopia alive, and just because they look very vintage it doesn't mean they are trad, it just means there was no spot for new clothes in the 5 year plan.

Sorry for the many words, today and yesterday i needed to kill time at work. i won't terrorize the fedi with my word barrages for much longer and return to my usual habits here ;-)!

But for the time being i still believe in laws of thermo dynamics

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @Starprophet1 @Jonny @matty @TrevorGoodchild @catmanmancat @suquili very true, I've also taken a look into Bob Lazar and the stuff he claims he has seen in Area S4. I mean it could be all made up, but like just assuming there is a way to manipulate or create a gravitational field which as we know influences space time, there will be tabula rasa and a lot of the stuff that was dogmatically impossible then needs to be changed to impossible in standard gravity/space time...
Who knows, i like the idea slowing the movement of time by reducing gravity inside a created bubble while the bubble moves in normal time without inertia...
According to lore we already have the technology. They use a superconducting rotating mercury plasma generator.

      Field-effect antigravity flight engine
The invention relates to a field-effect antigravity flight engine. Mercury is filled in an annular chamber at the periphery of a central magnetic column, generates high-temperature high-pressure fluid or plasma flow under the pressure action provided by the annular heater and a collector, and aggregates at high speed toward the cylindrical cavity at the centre of the magnetic column along the clearance between the underside of the central magnetic column and an insulating plane. In a mercury high-speed flowing process, magnetic force line are cut to generate round current or vortex current, and when mercury arrives at the cylindrical cavity at the centre, the current is maximum; then the persistently generated round current or vortex current forms current superposition, so that a sharp increasing magnetic field is formed in the cylindrical cavity at the center and continuous electromagnetic outbreak finally occurs to release energy; and the electromagnetic energy is a magnetic field column formed by a concentric round electric field and is called as an energy column, and the energy is dynamic and can be radiated outwards to transmit force and energy. The purpose of driving artificial aircrafts can be achieved by utilizing the converted energy.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @Starprophet1 @Jonny @matty @TrevorGoodchild @catmanmancat @suquili Maybe you have an idea to this theoretical question. 2 objects are approaching each other on a linear trajectory. Both objects have a speed of 0.6 C, so in abstraction we have a stationary object and a moving object approaching with 1.2C. What impuls energy will be created on impact considering that mass becomes lim(infinite) when reaching C.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @Starprophet1 @Jonny @matty @catmanmancat @suquili people don't get that questioning our perception of reality has nothing to do with the physical shape of an object. I think he didn't get the philosophical part in your questioning whether we are on a planet.
To me the question always is, is my perception real and can i trust it. Des Cartes said "I think therefore i am" which says you can't be sure about the existance of anything but your thoughts and therefore you conclude proof of your existance. But it also means everything else but your thoughts could be unreal. if you don't believe me ask a schizophrenic...
