     @Dagnar @Turkleton @db Yes, that's the worst. I searched shelters several times, called Animal Control over and over to ask if they'd picked him up. I even searched up and down the sides of the road by my house for his body. But there was nothing. It was 3 years ago and it still hurts. 😭

     @Dagnar @Turkleton @db My girls are Sofia and Lily. They'll be 2 years old in June. My boy is Midnight, who is at least 15 years old. He was given to me by someone who was moving and couldn't take him, when he was 2 years old. He has my heart. ❤️

     I was happy to find them homes. It was like release from a nightmare, being cooped up inside on top of each other and all those boxes. Each one I gave away gave me a look of gratitude before we parted.

     She was crippled with fibromyalgia and very poor. I'd argue for hours with her to find homes for all but 4, because that's max number she could properly take care of. Stubborn to the end, when she died I had to find homes for them all.

     @Dagnar @troubledturtle From what I've seen their entire fight repertoire consists of "charge, bite hard and ragdoll". While this may serve very well against a human toddler, a more agile canine that can rip them up from multiple angles would seem to be a more challenging opponent.

I do NOT get out of my vehicle with loose dogs. I've been attacked 3 times. I now have a stun baton, pepper spray and a gun (if necessary). I got off without a bite all 3 times, but I don't screw around.
     
     Last attack was after I had done a delivery, and was halfeway back to my vehicle. Dog came from behind the house, and charged me. Stun baton was in my hand with my finger on the button. I turned around and hit the zap button. Dog veered off and I held him off, until the idiot owner saw what was going on and called him back to the house.
     
     Fucktard. He knew a delivery was coming and let the dog stay outside. We deal with this shit all the time. I am not going to the hospital or the morgue because of a dog, pitbull or otherwise.

Got to the high mountain lake and it was swarming with mosquitoes so bad we immediately turned around and walked back. Almost got bitten by a rattlesnake too. One of the best days of my life.

     Made my daughter learn as well, from 8 years old. She hated me at first. Now she totally gets it. It got her a job last summer - her hand-written notes in the margins of some drawings (she's in architecture) put her above the other candidates.

We were taught cursive when I was in grade school.
     
     Even being forced into after school penmanship sessions could not fix my handwriting. Admittedly I was a lazy and stubborn kid.

It's just the hybris of modern humans, who think we must now be so much smarter than our ancestors.
     I got cured of that idea, when i was learning for my Infinitesimal calculation / Analysis Abitur exam. I am class of 2001, so we were allowed to use non programmable scientific calculators. On one day i thought aah common, easy going lets try one of the exams from the 50s...
     I couldn't answer one single question using the calculator that those guys back then didn't have.
     It's complete lunacy that contemporary humans think they were smarter than all our forefathers combined, who agreed on certain stuff, like keeping women out of politics, and not letting uncounted numbers of jungle creatures roam freely in your society... but you know contemporary humans read the summary of 1 book and think they can now solve all the problems no one before them could solve with amazing solutions like "Wooooooah, if we stop being assholes and are more accepting to wankers and outcasts, the world is gonna be totally silky smooth and sparkly" or the classic "If we take away all guns, people would totally stop killing each other and withing weeks we would have world peace and then we finally can have all the butt sex possible!"
     Anyway, don't look for answers from the guys who couldn't keep their dystopia alive, and just because they look very vintage it doesn't mean they are trad, it just means there was no spot for new clothes in the 5 year plan.
     
     Sorry for the many words, today and yesterday i needed to kill time at work. i won't terrorize the fedi with my word barrages for much longer and return to my usual habits here ;-)!
