    @p Real life Oppenheimer's cultural arc just happened to span an era when leftism was mainstream (1933-1945), one where leftism was hated (1946-1960) and then finally 1961-to his death when leftism was back on the menu. This is shown in the film where everyone apologizes for blacklisting him in his old age.

    @p Oppenheimer was well made but Strauss was entirely correct in regarding Oppenheimer with suspicion, what with his circle of communist friends, one of whom literally approached Oppenheimer to recruit him as a spy. They even included it in the movie, but we're supposed to regard anyone who didn't trust him as a vile McCarthyite. Never mind the bizarre scene where he almost poisons his professor.

    @p The pretext of Lightyear is that it is the movie upon which the Buzz toy is based, the one the kid in the original Toy Story is a big fan of.

    Therefore, since Toy Story is either contemporary to 1995 or perhaps even earlier - but absolutely no later - there is absolutely no way a children's film would have an overt lesbian couple. But even worse for credibility, the film is a complete downer. It would be like having a toy from Welcome to the Dollhouse.

    @p Canonically it was ridiculous to recast Buzz in the alleged 'original source' of the toy... because the toy includes VOICE SAMPLES from the movie it's based on! Therefore in-universe movie Buzz sounds exactly the same as toy Buzz.

    These fucking people, jeez...

    @p Tim got the last laugh. They didn't hire him for Lightyear and it was a massive bomb, so they had to come crawling and beg him to do Toy Story 5, which he did and I'm sure he was well paid for it. Plus he is vindicated, it being a massive hit.
