"one ton", "quarter ton" etc don't really mean anything about the load it will carry. It's more a category than a load spec.
Originally it referred to the amount of hay (small bales) you could stack on a flat bed. A quarter ton truck was built to carry 12-16 bales, a one-ton was rated to carry 48-60. In the 30s that was a big load, requiring big wheels, heavy duty running gear, and a powerful engine. So now the biggest, most powerful light truck is a one-ton. But a one-ton truck can easily carry 4 tons, and tow 6 or more.

To the extent that there is any genetic difference between Russians and Ukrainians, it is the Ukies that have more Central Asian, Mongol and Tartar blood, not Russians. That's because Crimea was the HQ of the western Khanate of the Golden Horde, and later of the Tartar Khanate. It took Stalin to finally remove them back to Central Asia.

They US Navy controls comms aboard ship. Full stop. Nothing goes out unless they allow it. I would have expected a lockdown even if the ship hadn't been attacked, it's standard practice in a war zone. Certainly if they are trying to cover something up they have the ability and the desire to shut it all down.
I think the ship was probably hit, but probably not nearly as badly as the Houthis want to make it seem. It will be up to the Navy brass to make the announcement, no CO is going to say anything on his own.
I don't have an argument re: drone shots though, except they've kept out to sea far enough to avoid most land-based drones. Certainly that won't matter to Iran.
