@dansup Flickr is not in the same category as Instagram. It has publicly available APIs and feeds, and can be accessed without using an official slot-machine-style zuckerpump app (indeed, its official app leaves much to be desired). The engagement-farming age has passed Flickr by.

@davidgerard They’re unownable and dangerous for anything that’s more than a novelty, but they do an excellent job of flooding the zone with Augean quantities of bullshit, which may be convenient for those who don’t like democratic culture being viable. @DarthPutinKGB @cstross The key is Campism: Ukraine and Israel are both linked to Washington, whence all evil flows, so anyone who stands against them is by definition on the side of liberation. Especially if they’re blood-soaked tyrants, as “human rights” is a bourgeois value.

This is thoughtful design: Muji apparently released a flashlight that works with any combination of 2 AA and 2 AAA batteries, only more dimly with fewer batteries.

@dansup @pixelfed What I’d like to see is Stories which are visible only to mutual follows/people the poster has chosen. That would be more important for the use case of stories, as they’re a medium for ephemeral sharing with people one knows, as opposed to publishing to anyone who finds it interesting.
