@dansup Flickr is not in the same category as Instagram. It has publicly available APIs and feeds, and can be accessed without using an official slot-machine-style zuckerpump app (indeed, its official app leaves much to be desired). The engagement-farming age has passed Flickr by.

@dansup @pixelfed Do you have a resource for me I can use when touting the Fediverse and it's apps that would help answer questions like "who pays for it all?", "How sustainable is it", "how secure is it?", "who has access to my stuff?"
Some of these questions might seem silly, like the last one, but these are the questions that come up from people I'm trying to bring on board.

That's exactly why I love using PixelFed: it doesn't see you as the product. We all together create this wonderful platform, and at least I don't have to deal with this tracker abomination.
