Please, if you're new to Mastodon, write a bio, and at least an introductory post. It's good to follow lots of accounts but if I don't know anything about you I'll assume you're a bot.

How about inviting Zelensky? Maybe the day before trump?

it's an endorsement he deserves.
This will have consequences. I saw an article saying Trump's position will push the UK closer to the EU. I'm not so sure, the establishment seem to be falling over themselves to remind Trump of the 'special relationship'. The BBC reporting the government are requesting the monarchy invite him to a state banquet. Trump loves this sort of thing and the only reason he'll keep ties with the UK, that and his golf course.

I think that trump will make the UK choose - us or them.
Starmer will favour trump over the EU, which will be a terrible mistake.

Cory Doctorow generally makes good points but I was disappointed that he didn't mention Mastodon when he was discussing this on BBC R4 a couple of weeks ago.

This is great. It's clear this works for the benefit of all society. Less crime, drugs, violence, this enables people to rebuild their lives, a positive outcome for all.
But there will always be those that say, they didn't earn this money, why should they have it not me, ignoring the overall benefits.
