    @evan yes, searching for the "user" and following works, at least on current-ish glitch-soc. I'm sure there are people who can answer this with more confidence though, and for software other than Mastodon.

    @evan I meant "limiting" the federation. That does keep all the followed accounts and all of the boosting working, right? While not bothering the users.

    @evan from all bots, which I don't want to do. Muting the instance seems to work well and I can see the bots I follow anyway. Should probably be the recommended server-wide solution, unless it actually breaks things in a way I don't realize.

    I kinda liked (and used!) #TagsPub when it was #OptIn tbh but the #notifications are annoying either way... what if I silence the instance?

    Ok yeah, that actually works pretty well. Now make that shit opt-in again (or at least proactively fucking ask before assuming consent or something?) and it might have a future.

    @whitequark started writing a list in replies and yeah, i think i'd need a whole day to remember and thank every project that i depend on daily (let alone each person).

    soo when is it exactly and what's the hashtag? :blobcatupsidedown:

    @whitequark @mei @bakkot same tbh, i just use json-stable-stringify just in case.

    (Apparently there are also safe-stable-stringify and fast-json-stable-stringify, guess i've been missing out!)

    @aral @bnys are you planning any more of these in the future? Thank you for the work you've done on this, I'm one of those people who never donated to Gaza fundraisers before Gaza Verified, since they're all in someone else's name (understandable), and sadly scammers are better equipped for outreach than actual people suffering.

    @Rasp i'm collecting scenarios where i actually needed cpu to go brr and so far there's two https://loud.computer/@virtulis/114696638486197999

    Did you try 1.6 yet? Is it actually more better?

      Another (second ever) scenario is RimWorld pathfinding etc. Presumably same reason, it's probably switching between CPU heavy and something else, so CPU never spins fully up. Haven't tried 1.6 yet, hopefully that's much better. Re https://raru.re/@Rasp/114696613891976958

    @grimalkina I hate this phrase so much.

    Vibe coding is when you pick a stack that seems most fun instead of most efficient.

    This garbage is "make believe coding" at best.

    @grimalkina honestly? I think because as "AI" and "copilot" are becoming the swear words they deserve to be, they need to make some new BS up to pretend there's a totally new big thing. And a new new big thing sells better than yesterday's big thing.

    It's generally all the same people. I bet if I try to remember the guy I heard about ethereum from for the first time I'll find him live on twitch vibe coding or wherever it is they do it.

    @VeryBadLlama see, the problem is you'll still have to actually show up at least 20% of the time (but also make it truly random, like it could be ten times in a row in theory). Otherwise we tend to learn very fast.
