I truly hope the good justices can see through the nastiness and the hate of anyone who does not fit the rigid views of the likes of Rowling, Cherry et al. A total refusal to recognise trans rights, intersex people and their rights, womens rights, mens rights and everyone’s autonomy and personal decisons are all on the line in this case. It will be a huge danger to all the hard won rights of everyone if this case succeeds. #TransRights is where it begins, and all our rights and autonomy is where it ends. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/nov/26/supreme-court-for-women-scotland-gender-representation-appeal-case
Factory farming is wrong on every possible level; cruel, inhumane, pollution, and health. DAERA in NI are contradicting themselves here - belatedly expressing concerns about pollution, having enabled so many of these factory farms in the last ten years or so; currently putting a plan in place to try and save Lough Neagh and restore it. At the same time, DAERA have announced an appeal against the court ruling that stops polluting gas caverns being excavated in a Marine protected area at Islandmagee. The company concerned has just bailed out of Harland & Wolff Shipyard in Belfast, as they have no money and lots of bills. Why is DAERA talking out of both sides of its mouth? Why are they appealing a court ruling against a company with no money? Why pretend they are concerned with pollution in Lough Neagh, while hoping to overturn a ruling against pollution of a protected marine area? Some years ago, Nichola Mallon of SDLP, reinstated sand dredging in Lough Neagh, despite a court ruling against it. Lord/Earl of Shaftsbury gets a royalty for every tonne of sand dredged there. His family were gifted the lake bed several generations ago. #NIPolitics#DAERA#LoughNeagh#Pollution#FactoryFarming#GasCaverns#MarineProtection#FreshWater#Think32#Shaftsbury https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/new-muck-map-reveals-toxic-waste-levels-from-ni-factory-farms/a461482462.html
@Lazarou Dawn Butler is not wrong. Badenoch hates everyone who does not do as she demands, and fights with everyone who does not agree with her version of how the UK should be. She started with trans people, then the Irish, followed by an attack on working pregnant women, who take maternity leave; and she’s an avid supporter of forcing people to a third country like Rwanda, plus she supports isolation like Brexit. There is nothing likeable about Badenoch at all, unless you are a racist.
@Lazarou I’ll watch the budget tomorrow, even though it’s going to hurt so much. I have a horrible feeing it’s going to be exactly the sort of budget Hunt would bring in, only worse. #ToryContinuityParty
@Lazarou Myself & OH are both retired; I’m only expecting negatives for us. Both my adult children work and have their own homes [one in London and one in Belfast], and I’m not expecting anything decent for them either.
Deforesting regions we have bombed and destroyed for generations…. And Labour think this solves our energy issues? We need wind farms, solar, heat pumps, and insulation, plus new low energy, heat efficient housing. We do not need or want to deforest more of the planet, and we certainly don’t want Carbon Capture Storage cons in the the UK. Plant a lot more trees everywhere, create wetlands, grasslands and bogland. Stop making the destruction of another country’s environment the solution to our issues. We must take responsibility and fix this ourselves, within our own borders. #Environment#Destruction#Planet#GlobalWarming#Labour#BrainDead https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/oct/09/anger-uk-plan-net-zero-import-biomass-fuel-north-korea
Musk delaying things until [as he hopes] Trump is POTUS? US regulatory authorities should take a leaf from Brazil’s playbook. They put manners on him; and in the end he complied with their ruling. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0e1xgw4dqdo
@hannu_ikonen Sammy is something special. ‘Get the ethnics out’ he once said in House of Commons. That’s pretty racist to say the least. He also claimed that women who breastfeed their babies are voyeurs. He stood with then DUP MPs Ian Paisley Jnr and Paul Girvan and they all had a Vote Trump flag in House of Commons grounds. The photos are still online in a search.
