@HarriettMB @GottaLaff Elon Musk is going to learn a hard lesson as he watches his “American Party” collapse in obscurity.

There are numerous alternative parties in America 🇺🇸, but most people vote for parties who have the realistic opportunity to bring about change (hence why there are only two major parties).

@GottaLaff It’s for nothing more than frustrating and irritating Donald Trump. I doubt Musk actually wants anything to do with a political party per se. He wants attention and money and to win against Trump. Trump can and will cancel Musks NASA money, has already stopped the EV money, and no doubt will try to replace Starlink too, or not pay for services used. The environment may be the winner in the end, as less rockets is a bonus. Less Starlink would be great also.

      5/ Via Andy Craig:

Rough rundown of what it takes to do this as a legally real thing, nevermind its electoral prospects.

      1) incorporate
      2) charter state affiliates
      3) qualify as a party under various state laws
      4) recruit candidates and also get them on ballots
      5) seek FEC recognition for national party committee

Multiply any challenge you can think of thousand-fold when you consider this is someone with the shortest political attention span, for a task that’s as arduous and long-term as it gets.

Let’s first see if Elon finds anyone capable of running a campaign and willing to run next year.

What does it even mean to form a new political party? It’ll get attention, but a rather meaningless thing to say. In short term, it’s basically all about figuring out which states you can qualify a candidate without having a set ballot line, and how to possibly make them viable even with $$.

      2/ Random thoughts:

Now think about all the promises Musk made (like Donny2Weeks) about his other little ventures ("in one year".."In 2 years"...).

Memory Lane: Ross Perot. (h/t: @Adventurer)

      So: Likely going nowhere.

      Likely destructive.

      Likely BS.

      Always self-serving.
