@vicgrinberg @kim_harding In the Los Angeles area, we often have what they call “low clouds and fog” when the marine layer moves on land. The cloud layer is often between 500 and 800 meters above sea level and intersects the mountains that reach more than 1500 meters above sea level.

@dantheclamman @futurebird The DuckDuckGo search from Safari on iOS does not include AI summary or results, but I remember seeing it in a different browser recently. It is difficult to tell what layer is adding the AI summary.

@veronica @amanda @futurebird A big problem with the new AI search summaries is the AI generates text that looks like regular English text, but it is not reliable for the facts. People who are not familiar with the AI flaws can be fooled.

@kkarhan @Viss My Mazda was built in Japan and sold in the USA. There is no mandatory cellular phone or data connection for cars sold in the USA.

@kkarhan @Viss My 2017 Mazda does not have any external network connection, but most other cars from that year do.

@augieray Sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis, but I wish her the best of luck with her treatments. My mother got a cancer diagnosis about 40 years ago and I am sure they have made huge progress since then.

@Gorfram @bascule The energy storage systems help to shift the solar power production to supply electricity when it is needed to some extent, but it does not always provide power when it is required. You are right that the power supply has to have capacity to meet the peak demand, but if peak demand is in August, solar power from April is no help. Electric companies have to keep other sources that can be available at short notice for the peaks in demand.

@bascule @Gorfram Yes, they are installing a lot of energy storage that can store the excess for at least a few hours and use it later in the day. This will help even out the supply and demand, but it still means that the total installed capacity is much higher than the average power produced over a year.
