My German has gotten rustier and rustier since my mom died nearly 10 years ago. At that point, she was my last living German-speaking relative. It is getting harder for me to read and forget hearing it at this point.

Anybody out there have interesting and not too heavy German language first Fedi folks they follow? Bonus points if they don’t mind interacting with someone whose German language skill sucks?

@killyourfm January was pretty rough. -5 F with windchill down to -30. February eased up, and right now it's very nice out...it's cloudy with chance of t-storms but the high is flirting with 70! It's supposed to turn colder late next week, but not like it was.

@killyourfm That doesn't suck! I love cooking outdoors. It's finally warming up here in Michigan. Time to get the grill tripod set up!

@HistoPol @AnarchoNinaWrites the fundamental conceit of asserting "All men are created equal" while simultaneously having some men own other men (don't get me started on where women even fit in here, because they didn't) is wholly and completely incompatible. It's like having a bright dark or a silent noise.

And every action taken to try and reconcile this has been little more than marketing campaigns since then.

@skinnylatte I started on nylon string guitars and studied classical and flamenco for several years before I ever picked up an electric guitar. If you ever decide to try steel-string for jazz, folk, or rock or whatever, you will have all sorts of techniques and modal melody knowledge that will serve you well.

@wonkothesane @mekkaokereke People even tried to erase that Orwell was a democratic socialist when he even said in his own writings that everything he wrote was in defense of it. Many socialists DESPISED the Soviet Union for what they did.

With that said, I hate cooking for just myself. If I lived alone I’d probably live on cereal and sandwiches. But I love making tasty things for others so I cook 4 to 5 times a week.
