I've been getting that for months. My solution is to switch to @nextcloud with @collabora as soon as this organization acquires another #SelfHosted server.
(I "liked/favourited" your post, but by that I really meant just an acknowledgement. There has to be a better way to indicate acknowledgement without suggesting that I liked the content...)
The mail server on which the power supply died had been rebooting spontaneously and hanging on startup a couple of times a day, and I spent a lot of time sifting through the logs to see what might be triggering it. I finally scripted a bunch of startup scripts to send an alert, circumvent the hang, restart the mail services, and just let it do its reboot thing.
With the new PS it seems to be stable. Was it a bad power supply all along? We'll never know now...
There was a thunderstorm today, accompanied by a brief power failure. Sadly, the mail server didn't pull through. It just sat there, power, cycling, until I turned it off and on again (a sure-fire cure most other times), but it didn't do the "on again" part. Happily, I Frankensteined a power supply from another carcass, and it's up again. But now I have TWO running servers on my workbench with their guts spilled out.
I was once told that for making presentations: Tell 'em what you're gonna tell them; tell 'em what you're telling them; then tell 'em what you've told them.
Presto, three times the content, and comprehensive from all angles.
Of course, I'm only *renting* those domain names, which point to my servers at the whim of the registrar, their upstream provider, and beneficence of ICANN.
> It’s Maple weekend in Ontario. Locally, Elmira will be celebrating it's 60th maple syrup festival. But there’s more to maple syrup than pancakes and waffles. Food columnist Jasmine Mangalaseril talked to food and drink professionals in Waterloo Region who use maple syrup in different and unique ways.
The shitty jobs still exist and still need to get done, even when there's #UBI. The difference is, with UBI people can say "No" to shitty jobs with poor pay. So to get the shitty jobs done they have to pay enough so people want to do them. UBI makes shitty jobs a bit less shitty.
I've been using either @Mojeek or #StartPage on my browsers. Over the last two years of using #Mojeek it has become noticeably better, but not so much for StartPage...
Somewhat agree. Having been both a candidate and a poll supervisor (in different elections, silly!) I both appreciate the very hard work election workers do to ensure fair outcomes, and I've seen errors occur that call those outcomes into question. There definitely needs to be a way to request recounts, although I can't remember when a recount actually changed the outcome of an election.
In its youth "Internet" was capitalized, but almost nobody does that any more. When the norm becomes "fediverse" we'll know it has become mainstream.
I've always thought "Huffman" encoding should be lower-case, since it's so well established. But that might be different because it's the name of a person, David Huffman, who invented it.
