@bikeottawa Group rides are the best for #SlowBiking. I didn't realize how madly fast I was biking on my own until I was forced to slow down when biking with others. Much more enjoyable too, both in appreciating the surroundings a bit better, as well as being with like-minded folks.
Maybe just me, but I found the reverse categories difficult to parse. eg. "2000-1990" doesn't make my brain go "ah, 1994 goes here". I would have preferred "1990-2000", even if they're listed from most-recent to oldest.
I thought CDNpoli might be for "CanaDiaN Poli", but @clacke did a Wikipedia search, which suggests CDN comes the vehicle licence registration code, allegedly meaning "Canadian DominioN".
@marnanel Yup, happened at one of our local restaurants, too. When they applied for a building permit to renovate the bathrooms they had to provide all the accessibility features in the area they were renovating (the bathroom itself), including wheelchair accessible stalls and sinks, and power doors. But didn't have to do anything about the stairs leading TO the bathroom.
The Dutch language has the official "Little Green Book" ("Het Groene Boekje") that prescribes how the language is to be used.
Every time it's updated everyone complains that's not how anyone actually uses the language, and some major newspapers publish the subversive "Little White Book" ("Het Witte Boekje").
@cosullivan Another vote for #KeepassXC here. I have hundreds of passwords stored, but only a handful of #TOTP entries, and keep the database synchronized between computers with @nextcloud. And I'm using the same DB on my phone with #KeePassDX.
Someone on infosec.exchange warned us that using the same tool for storing passwords and doing TOTP isn't really 2FA, but more like 1.5FA, and then admitted to doing exactly that themselves...
@liaizon Calendar app? Now that's a can of worms...
I use the vanilla calendar app that comes bundled with Android, but what makes it usable is @DAVx5app connected to my @nextcloud, and #ICSx5 to pick up other miscellaneous calendars, including public calendars from Google.
I chose "post mainly in my native language", but that's technically a lie. My native language is Dutch, but since I've lived 88% of my lifetime in Canada my primary language is English. I'm fluent in Dutch for speaking and reading, but writing Dutch is a bit of a challenge, and comes out full of grammar and spelling errors. I manage to read most posts in German and French (but never post), and I really want to learn Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish 'cos there's so much on my timeline.
Yup, 100% CPU utilization is what we saw on our webhost too. And it didn't go away unless I renamed the WordPress index.php in the document root and killed all the lsphp processes...
I've deactivated both the ActivityPubPlugin and the WebFinger plugin on that site until we can bring the blog in-house on our own server. But that may be months away yet.
The number of active accounts dropped sharply when Mastodon dropped OStatus, making my instance less useful. I think most of the remaining accounts are on Friendica servers, although LinuxWalt's Federati.net instance(s) may be running GNUsocial or some other OStatus software.
LinuxWalt is also in the ActivityPub world at @lnxw37a2 (Hi LinuxWalt!)
Want: A #Fediverse#ReverseFilter, so that I can subscribe to someone's feed but keep it muted, except when their post contains a word in my reverse #Filter list.
This would be really useful for all those posts that don't include hashtags.
