I have a very bizarre story involving a major Linux contributor that I once met, and it paints them in a pretty bad light. I have thought about sharing it for a long time but unsure if it does anything positive to air such a story. It was over ten years ago and I am pretty sure this person is mostly retired by now so I don't think they would lose much from the bad publicity but also I don't want to take someone down just because it makes an interesting blog post. What would you do?
@jensimmons I wish there was generally better support for SVG in everything. There are a lot of weird quirks between browsers that are a headache to deal with if your trying to make something nice especially if using SVG animations
Today in weird fediverse news: @Rib uncovered proof that the early 2000s anti piracy campaign Piracy is a Crime (which you probably know from "you wouldn't steal a car" meme) used an unauthorized knockoff of @justvanrossum's FF Confidential. Now this story is getting picked up in mainstream press like PC Gamer:
@silverpill@julian@hongminhee ugh mastodon android squishes this. These are both Mastodon bugs as far as I am concerned. I think as long as you specify what you are making maximum compatibility with that seems OK but long emojos are INCREDIBLY popular on all the misskey and misskey adjacent fediverse areas. So I would argue that usage should be spelled out in the FEP as well.
@silverpill@julian@hongminhee you have listed "Image is a square" but is definitely not true for Misskey. And Mastodon renders Misskeys long emojos just fine. Actually mastodon does fine with long emojos now too :fep_400e:
Seems like so many people from #octodon have not moved to new instances, really sad to see it go down and bring so many connections with it. Some of my oldest fediverse followers are only there.
