I’m grateful to have met so many people across the #Fediverse. I've always aimed to represent and support a community perspective when discussing our space. I also want to say that I am proud of the Mastodon team's thoughtful work and values, and I'm thankful for their friendship, especially through some tougher personal moments in the past ~10 months. Looking back at the past few years, I’ve given 30-40 talks, interviews, and panels on the Fediverse; hosted the Social Web Devroom at FOSDEM (twice); written extensively about the open social web and the free internet; and contributed to discussions in standards bodies and EU agency meetings - helping shape how decentralised social technologies are understood and adopted. What's next? From May, I'm looking for roles at the intersection of European digital policy, ethical open platforms, and developer/community engagement. I’m optimistic about these spaces, and keen to help shape what comes next. I care about a future that values human connection and shared power, not extractive platforms.
If you’re working in these areas - or know someone who is - I’d welcome a conversation. andypiper-at-omg.lol (yes, really) or check my website #GetFediHired /end (4/4)
Some personal news... after an amazing 3 years working with the Mastodon team, first in developer relations and then as communications lead - it’s time for me to move on (after April 28). It’s been a privilege to work on something as meaningful and important as the Fediverse. 🧵👇🏻 (1/4)

Berlin airport strike -> rebooked to travel to Leuven via train.
Booked ICE train (with reserved seat) to Köln was cancelled.
Follow on ICE train to Köln inevitably very busy; I’d allowed up to an hour for the connection, so it was *theoretically* possible to catch still pick it up… except that this train is now also late, as well as packed 🤦
There is a lot happening on the project right now, especially in the lead up to 4.6. We're also now part of the Social Web Working Group at the W3C. As usual, many moving parts to coordinate. I'm always excited to see the team's progress as we pull together our monthly update for the community.
Next up @michael is up talking about the launch of the Qlub app and the Tŵt app, and how US tech giants don't share the same community values of the towns and communities we live in. #TootWales
I saw the cover of the current @linuxmagazine “Streaming in the Fediverse”, and I’m a bit disappointed at the actual coverage of #Fediverse music services and the community of musicians - it is primarily a feature on *Navidrome* (which is great, but not federated) with a mention of Funkwhale. It could have covered Bandwagon, Mirlo, The Indie Beat Radio & TV, PeerTube and more. I’d be happy to submit a piece on this at some point if the editors are interested…!
The #SocialWeb track at #FOSDEM kicked off with a talk by @pfefferle that covered WordPress and a "single click" philosophy to set up an ActivityPub instance. Matthias also talked about how blogs and similar sites can broaden the reach of the open social web - this was one of the themes of the day.
