Well this is admirably concise and direct by Germany's justice ministry.

THANK YOU. Without Germany's support, Chat Control is dead in Council. For now at least.

Some serious introspection now needed by DG HOME for its antidemocratic draft law and illegal lobbying.

I'm told by @Privacymatters that Germany has stayed strong and blocked the Council majority, so chat control is dead (for now)!

@libreoffice Maybe check out the actual URL launched when a user clicks "Libre Office Help" in your application Help menu?

Because that's the "usual place" users actually seek help from IN YOUR APP.

This superior and obtuse response from you says a lot about how you treat users.

@libreoffice @madalex thanks guys, it's actually hard to say. I updated Mac OS today (sequioa 15.6.1). before I did that, I saved +closed my .odt with yesterday's work in Libre Office. restarted, then opened LO to find most recent version anywhere was almost 24 hours previous, including on proton drive back up which just had a lock file. Mac 'most recent' had zero LO/ODT files - it had never saved any. And version control says no version older than at start of yesterday's work exists.

@libreoffice LO latest version as it was installed only last week: 25.8.0.4

The proton drive file was corrupted. The LO ODT files on my mac just simply were never created... Despite me hitting 'apple S' multiple times yesterday while working and despite saving and closing the document before I upgraded my OS.

I'd love to have brought this up with your support site link from the programme itself but the link doesn't even resolve...

@libreoffice @madalex What really makes me cross is that - now that I've investigated <after> the problem destroyed my work - the failure to save documents properly on a macbook is a known issue? and I could and should have taken action to give LO special access rights via Mac's privacy and security settings. That may have prevented all of this but it's the first I ever heard that was needed.

Feels particularly ironic the work in question is a book about how to ... get off Big Tech.

So I started using LibreOffice. Did an OS update on my macbook today. Come to find out today, that LibreOffice was not saving properly on my mac, nor was it backing up uncorrupted to my proton drive.

I've lost EVERYTHING from my hardest and most significant day's work, impossible to reconstruct (TCP/IP ancient history who said what when and multiple sources) and I'm fucking despairing.

LibreOffice online help page won't resolve. Anyone out here can help get back corrupt ODT files?

The TfL EU data breach scandal is just WTAF - the TfL lawyer who signed it off needs sacking.

TfL's Birmingham-based private enforcer 'Euro Parking' is a criminal enterprise, acting knowingly and repeatedly to break EU law in several countries - first Belgium, then Italy, probably others now.

But the UK Information Commissioner says the abuses aren't against UK citizens so 'not our problem'!

Another Brexit dividend. The UK's reputation is, sadly, mud in the EU.

Well, yesterday I defended my PhD dissertation.

It was challenging in all the best ways and took about two hours - mostly because well into the second hour we all seemed to be having a delightful and multifaceted conversation. An amazing experience - just incredible to be in a room of people who have really grappled with and thought hard about your work. Still beaming.

Phew! Pass with minor corrections. Soon to be a doctor of English and Creative Writing...

Also I turned 51
