Again: No core developers use LLMs. We rely on contributions from the wider community and don't explicitly list tools people can't use – but we do require people disclose when they use LLMs and generally discourage the practice. We carefully review submissions by contributors to make sure the code quality is good and that the patch author understands their own code. LLMs are prohibited for students. That is not "slop".

@kimcrawley Because, like the article says, you can add it via optional third-party extensions, if you want. It's not built-in.

@RosePuckey Then please help us to make it happen 😊 We'd love a better Android app too, but we're a volunteer-driven, community open source project with limited resources. We can only make a better Android app with more help!

@wx1g @mookie As the old saying goes, "There is no cloud, just someone else's computer." (We're not saying all "cloud" stuff is inherently bad, and some people find value in such things, but it's important to always be aware of where you data is!)

@pri Things are starting to happen 😉 LibreOffice has around 200 million users (we estimate – of course we don't track people). The Austrian Military has moved 16,000 PCs from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice. Similar things are happening in Germany and Denmark. And quietly in many organisations and companies around the world...

@ikhider That's not true – anyone can fund developers to work on LibreOffice for Android, and the code goes back into the codebase thanks to the FLOSS license. We don't mean funding TDF directly. And in any case, TDF is also planing to do more in this direction: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/05/27/new-web-and-mobile-strategy-for-libreoffice/ – But the point still stands: resources are limited, everyone wants more and more, so please help us 😊
