With W Social starting this week, I recommend the brilliant research @_elena did into W:

- NO transparency about the tech stack
- NO public software repository (so no open source, no chance to see what W do with your data)
- TECH-BRO affiliates on the board

Is that the best alternative we can build in Europe? I strongly doubt it.
Why then are people like Ursula von der Leyen moving their accounts there?

Don´t make the same mistakes again.

- Spezialkräfte der Polizei, die die Route zum Flughafen schützen, auf irgendwelchen Dächern liegend - aber keine, die die Anwohner schützen könnten - daher hat es Stunden gedauert, bis die Gewalt im Schanzenviewrtel endete.

Wenn wir heute über den Vertrauensverlust in Staat und Politik sprechen, dann kann man auch hier Ursachen finden.

Es war eine Aneinanderreihung von Fehleinschätzungen, die man schon arrogant nennen könnten

- ein G20-Gipfel direkt neben der besetzten roten Flora

- ein künftiger Bundeskanzler, der kein Gespür für die Stimmungen in seiner Heimatstadt hat

- eine Polizeiführung, die schon im Vorfeld konfrontativ, fast provokativ kommuniziert

Where are open networks heading?

I had an inspiring day yesterday at Ahoy!, predominantely a ATProto developer meeting in Hamburg.

Some thoughts (and a pic by @samvie which I was very happy to meet)...

1) I was amazed by the positive energy of many attendees, and their dedication to create a new, open network. Especially @aendra.com and her ideas for monetization on Bluesky, Sebastian Vogelsang and his Instagram-Feed impressed me.

2) Also @eilah_tan taking about power on Bluesky and her views on the need for conflict (!) in order to get best democratic conversations, really great.

@pfefferle @j12t well - now it has to lead to something, but I was happy to gather people for both, not only regulation, but also strengthening alternatives.

@j12t So far its a public declaration (1) with a campaign to find supporters (2) aiming at influencing politics on Länder, national and EU level (3). So far we have no body or structure to raise funds. But - it´s a start. I´m open to taking it to the next level, maybe not today though, I´m exhausted!
