@andypiper @reiver @j12t Yes, that's roughly it. I had started a project "ActivityPub" waaaay back in the OStatus days, as a client API that used the Atom format for Activity Streams data over the AtomPub API (thanks @timbray ). When @erincandescent submitted the first draft of AP, she used "ActivityPump" because it was mostly a spin on the pump.io API. We changed the name to ActivityPub just before releasing the spec.

I recall that someone mentioned before that "ActivityPub" was a renaming of "ActivityPump".
And, I would assume that the "pump" in "ActivityPump" is from pump.io

But, I never tried verifying any of that.

Does anybody know how the term "ActivityPub" was coined? Why that particular name?
(It's not an obvious one for a decentralized social media protocol.)
