We just posted the latest edition of our Trunk & Tidbits blog series, with our development updates for October. Welcoming a new team member, some small fixes in version 4.3.1, what we are working on next, and more.
We also want to thank Nathan (https://zeitschlag.net/) and Marcus (https://www.bearologics.com/) for taking care of the app in the last 2 years. If you are looking for freelance iOS developers in Germany, we can recommend them!
It contains some bug fixes and a few small features, like (optional) grouping of follow notifications and improvements the fediverse:creator setup instructions.
Our September engineering blog post is out. Read about our recent releases, what we did last month, our progress on the Fediscovery project and what's coming next !
We just released Mastodon 4.2.13 and 4.1.20. They contain a few bug fixes, a security fix (high severity, only impacting Ruby <= 3.2) and a critical security in a dependency is you use SAML authentication (CVE-2024-45409).
The first release candidate of #Mastodon 4.3 is ready! We expect this to very soon become the stable release, but if you encounter anything unexpected, please open a GitHub issue! This is also the last opportunity to submit translations for new and changed strings in CrowdIn.
@danny The release notes have been updated 20 minutes ago with instructions from Beta 1. If you are encountering an issue, please open a GitHub issue with the details and we will assist.
This version contains a security fix for an issue present in Mastodon 4.3 beta 1, (moderate severity) so we strongly suggest admins running on our beta versions to update as soon as possible.
We expect this to be the final beta, and to release our Release Candidate next week. Please open GitHub issues if you encounter anything unexpected!
@rdela Would you mind opening a GitHub issue with more details, including your account, so we can have a look at it? We never got reports about this, and this message happens if your IP is rate-limited because your instance gets too many requests from it, which is not expected to happen under normal usage. We did not get any other reports about this, maybe @tapbots can chime in as well?
We are excited to launch a new project that will help small and medium-sized fediverse servers and their users have better access to search and discovery through the use of pluggable Fediverse Discovery Providers, supported by a grant from @EC_NGI. See our new dedicated website for details:
