I've been trying to find the very first #Pixelfed post to include it in my short film promoting the fediverse - with no luck.

The best I could find was @dansup's post on Xmas 2018 saying Pixelfed was federating. If you happen to have a screenshot of the first official post announcing the launch of Pixelfed, you'll get a thank you in the film ✨

I'm spending every second of free time creating motion graphics for my short film introducing the Fediverse to people not familiar with it. It's coming together nicely but it's so much work 😅

Once it's done, I will release the animations with a CC license that allows other creators to re-use them.

I feel bad I haven't been able to interact with you on here but I will be done soon(ish). Maybe for a release during #FediForum?

The #Fediverse has become my happy online place. With this video project I'm putting myself out there so much (with my face, my voice) advocating for it. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone daily... but I know it's for a great cause.

Please be kind once the video is out... it'll be the result of tens of hours of work 🥲

I've been busy filming and doing motion graphics for my first Fediverse video. Things are going splendidly so far and I cannot wait to unveil it - target release date: May 29th.

Super thankful for the excellent work of my interns @samaaberg & @patel.riyen

Even if I hadn't done any motion graphics in 3+ years, it all came back instantaneously. I even remembered all the shortcuts right away 😅

Just now I saw an article describing Bluesky as the “billionaire-proof” social platform - you should have seen my eye roll. Sure, “billionaire-proof” (quote marks necessary) AND funded by the crypto bros at Blockchain Capital.

I wonder if the person who came up with the hype of Bluesky decentralization is the same who built up the myth of Space Karen as a genius.

Media literacy and digital literacy are more needed than ever. I miss the late Neil Postman 🥲

3 THINGS I'm grateful for when it comes to the #Fediverse:

1: I (almost) never see any AI slop. I'm subscribed to @404mediaco and I'm constantly horrified by their articles on AI slop - so common on Meta platforms. Not here. So #ThankYouFedi.

2: I'm never force-fed content by people I don't follow – so common in other places where algorithms rule. My time & attention are treated with RESPECT.

3: People here protect the privacy of children / don't post their pics. Consent is BIG. #ThankYouFedi

The day starts on a bright note, seeing the results of the Canadian elections 🇨🇦

Yesterday was the 1st day of pre-production for the Fediverse promo video. FASCINATING discussions with my interns. I understood so many things about the Fediverse from the POV of people not familiar with it.

The concept of servers / instances and software can be confusing. I finally got a breakthrough thanks to FediDB.

Today we’re reworking the script.
