Yeah
I'm on the same watch duty for my SS EFT
Looking back on my bank statements I'd say a Wednesday seems to be the clear pattern, maybe somewhere between the 8th and the 11th, going back to Wednesdays of the last two months
Not panicking

The comes a point here when the Republican party has to ask itself whether it really wants to be in on Trump's / Musk's suicide mission
There will come a tomorrow
Do they want to be a part of it?
"I cannot fathom the leaden silence..."
Too many Americans have witnessed at close quarters Trump's relentless use of stochastic terrorism
Unsubtle threats, not personally focused to leave Trump an obvious out, but clear enough to end up with people being doxxed, being swatted by police, having their children threatened by Trump stooges
Trump knows exactly what he's doing and it has worked to perfection
America is silenced by fear
OK Imma gonna mute this convo
My entire point was that the graphic presentation (which is what people scan for maybe three seconds) paints an entirely different story when viewed on the phone "app" everybody uses now, as opposed to the data presentation in a full-screen web browser tab
Clearly a design choice was made to *not* reformat the data to make the same presentation on any viewing device
And with that...
...i'm out

I have FediDB open in a tab daily
Some time ago I noticed a formatting change (really it was done with the time distribution) whereby in a browser tab, full screen HD 32" monitor, the top page, lead graphs were all virtually flat lines
Just thought to myself 'who would want this data portrayed in such an uninformative way?' but I see now it was reformatted for phones, because as we all know, *everyone* views the web through an "app" on their phones
Docktorow really needs a re-write to discuss the "enappification of the Internet"
That "enshitification" shchtick is so 2000s
So is that how you do it -- make that graph look like it's actually showing something since the recent formatting change?
Looks like you're looking on your phone, and the graph show some uplift at the recent end
Myself, looking full-screen 1920@1080@60p on a 32 inch monitor, full-screen Firefox browser tab, I see only the faintest, softest curves upward
Pretty unimpressive, really
Also interesting to note that the time scale is daily for me with a significant gap between data points, while you've got four-day data points all run together
Interesting to consider *how* the data is presented affects the message delivered, I guess
Bet DanSup and Gargron like the data rendition you see better than the one I see...
The real point here is that the entire Republican party are confirmed, serial, pathological liars
They can take any position at any time and be 100% inoculated against any suggestion of hypocrisy
In their own minds
"It’s worth mentioning that Maven received 2 million dollars in funding from former Twitter CEO Ev Williams and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman"
Realize that 2 million dollars is chump change to these tech bros
A rounding error
But even so these "investors" certainly expect an ROI - a return on their investment
What part of #Maven's haul is to be monetized to generate shareholder value - to ensure these parasites receive an adequate ROI - and how?
It should be noted that the designation "non-profit" is nothing other than a #US / #German #TaxShelter play
It has absolutely nothing to do with a double-entry, debits-and-credits-based fiscal analysis or audit of #Gargron's books by a legitimate accounting firm
Short title: The rich get richer, while the poor stay poor
No surprise there: that's what #Mastodon has been all about, all along...

But wait
This is interesting:
"... so we were glad when the tax office originally approved our non-profit status in 2021. But now we have received a notice from the same tax office that our (German) non-profit status has been withdrawn. This came with no advance warning or explanation."
So by "sustainable" you must mean that our boy Gargron is at the helm of the Mastodon Deathstar Mothership with the default app on the default web site, and every other instance is begging for bread crusts just to keep their servers spun up
Got it
@privateger@plasmatrap.com
Reading
It is a thing
You might try it some time
Meanwhile some 11,000 #Mastodon instances get pennies -- if that
$100,000.00 USD is $100,000.00 USD any way you slice it
And that's only one donor
cc @Mastodon
And this is interesting, from our boy #Gargron:
"We’ve always been worried that developing Free and Open Source Software would not be recognized as a charitable cause by the German tax system, so we were glad when the tax office originally approved our non-profit status in 2021. But now we have received a notice from the same tax office that our non-profit status has been withdrawn. This came with no advance warning or explanation."
Apparently chanting "free and open, free and open, free and open" while raking in sh1t-t0ns of money didn't fool the German tax authorities
So move to the United States, where the tax system and the IRS are deliberately intended to benefit the rich
Got it....
https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/04/mastodon-forms-new-u.s.-non-profit/
"what on earth makes you say they are raking in shit tons of money?"
Apparently you haven't been paying any attention
"Thank you Sujitech"
"Today we would like to thank Sujitech for kindly donating $100k USD to Mastodon, by far the largest single donation to our non-profit so far."
$100,000.00 USD
For what?
To pay "two full-time developers" $50,000 USD annually?
Dream on...
And this is one "donation" only
What is #Gargron raking in on his line of plushies and other bling?

"If a follower abuses it they can be blocked just as they would be for copying and pasting posts manually in an abusive way. "
This is always the excuse
Coderbro comes up with a bright new idea, codes it, releases it, gets feedback
"they can be blocked just as they would be for copying and pasting posts manually"
So we spend *our* time cleaning up after the abuse that your new software now allows?
Maybe we don't want to have to spend --> our time <-- online cleaning up after problems --> you <-- unleashed
Y'all just don't get that, do you?
Pretty interesting how quickly you rendered this entire convo as "unlisted"
"If it causes problems I'll take it down. But it doesn't do anything with code that can't be done with "ctrl-A, ctrl-C, click in the box, ctrl-V" and then manually adding the link and credit."
Complete and utter bullshit
It does all that with one click, *after* someone has installed --> your <-- software on --> their <-- computer
What else does your software do on some unsuspecting person's computer?
Your Javascript is some 397 words and 3,346 characters long
Are people at large supposed to open that in a text editor (as I have) and decode what it does?
Y'all coderbros don't seem to pick up on the idea that people are sick of this shit
Go hack your own computer with your bright ideas, and leave ours alone
You're evading my direct question, for more and more apparently obvious reasons
How do I or any other third party --> opt-out <-- of this specific software?
Period
Full stop
Failure to answer this question directly and with specificity only proves that you know exactly what you're doing
But you don't give a shit
I *do* understand what can be *done* with this
Which you don't seem to care about
Again, how does anyone opt-out of your little toy?
"It's not going to show up as their post, it's going to show up as your post. It's not doing anything you can't do manually by copying and pasting what they wrote into your own composing window."
Where does the "consent" you mention as a hashtag come in?
Consent for the original author to have their posts edited and CWs?
There's a reason quote-posts have not been adopted by the Mastodon distro globally
Had you not noticed, or do you not care?
So now you've written a work-around
Again, how do I opt-out?
"A new tab should open showing the composer, pre-populated with the text from the toot you want to share. You can make edits and add a content warning, and then publish, within a few seconds — or take as long as you want!"
Utterly astonished that this allows anyone to alter the original content of a post *they* themselves did not author by adding a CW warning overlay and (apparently, on quick reading) even edit the text of the original post
What's to stop *anyone* from completely negating and/or reversing the original author's meaning and intent?
How do I block this completely?
Did you allow for any mechanism for that, or is what people post now entirely under the control of random, unknown third parties?
Just (again) because some coderbro thinks it's a bright idea?
Wow...
