Yeah
See that quote (heh...) I pulled down from the Release notes:
""Quoting other people is not implemented yet, and it is currently not possible to mark your own posts as allowing quotes. However, a new “Who can quote” setting has been added to the “Posting defaults” section of the user settings. This setting allows you to set a default that will be used for new posts made on Mastodon 4.5 and newer, when quote posts will be fully implemented.""
Yeah there have been specific apps that have implemented #QuotePosts for some time now -- and used that as a "marketing" feature
But of course there's a difference between the user-space "app" level and the overall-global instance distribution level
This will become Yet Another(tm) #Mastodon Advanced Feature(tm) that newcomers and the experienced alike will have to find in some Preferences --> Whatever location and turn on or off as they see fit
Who says Mastodon is hard to use? /snark
And what are "Carousel Slides" and when do we get to see them?
Are these for Pinned Posts, or nah?
If I may, let me ask this question again, over here:
"- "experimental support for verifying and displaying remote quote posts""
I've watched as this very specific Issue worked its way through the #Mastodon #Github
"remote quote posts"
I've seen no mention (perhaps I missed it) of who exactly gets to --> create <-- these "remote quote posts"
"remote" implies no one on my local instance
Let's take a deep, cleansing breath and call this #LuxuryJet from #Qatar exactly what it is:
"Baksheesh (from Persian: بخشش bakhshesh[1]) ... and certain forms of political corruption and bribery in the Middle East and South Asia. "
These are Arabians
They know exactly who #Trump is
They know exactly what they are doing
They know exactly what they're going to get -- for starters
Trump does not
Trump gets played for the fool he is -- once again
Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baksheesh

" I understand Roberts as attempting to simultaneously reassure Trump about that while also seeming to stand firm on behalf of federal judges."
I'm seeing it as a pure PR play on #JohnRoberts part to buff the cred of #SCOTUS
Anyone who is paying any attention knows that #LeonardLeo's implementation of the #SupremeCourt is designed for one purpose only:
To enshrine the #UnitaryExecutive as #UnitedStates #Constitutional fact
Telegraphing Trump's intent to declare martial law at some time, due to "Cases of Rebellion or Invasion"
"It’s a shame Mastodon struggles with short video clips..."
#Mastodon is *not* intended to be a video content platform
#Pixelfed is, however
"OK fine! I’ll just create a series on YouTube about it..."
So you'd choose #Youtube --> over <-- anything on the #Fediverse?
Is that what you're saying?
Out of what? Spite?
Hard pass on that
I don't do Youtube
"...#Virginia #RepublicanParty leaders to step aside over allegations that he maintained a social media account with sexually explicit images of men.""
But wait
Where these "men" real men, if you know what I mean?
Or just repurposed "men" from some other...
...source
Seems like that would make a difference to real Republicans, given how obsessed Republicans are with what people have in their underwear

It's been said before, but I'll beat the dead horse again:
(one of) Smilin' Joe #Biden's biggest mistakes was not performing a complete house-cleaning at #ICE (and really U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as a whole) to root out the #Racist #Bigots who were running the entire lawless enterprise
ICE has been a rogue "agency" pretty much operating as its own law enforcement agency and private government, making its own policies and procedures that have only one purpose:
Terrorize any and all non-#Caucasians within the United States and either force them to leave, or arrest, imprison, and deport them as slave labor
"or if Abrego Garcia is confirmed dead, mooting the need for the remedy"
I'm expecting this to be the next shoe to drop in this sordid tale
That said, short of the return of the deceased's body, how can we even believe either El Salvador or Trump?
There are *never* any consequences for Trump's misconduct
Why should he *ever* obey any orders?
Fedilab?
Might want to try talking to someone here:

Yeah
I'm on the same watch duty for my SS EFT
Looking back on my bank statements I'd say a Wednesday seems to be the clear pattern, maybe somewhere between the 8th and the 11th, going back to Wednesdays of the last two months
Not panicking
Yet...
The comes a point here when the Republican party has to ask itself whether it really wants to be in on Trump's / Musk's suicide mission
There will come a tomorrow
Do they want to be a part of it?
"I cannot fathom the leaden silence..."
Too many Americans have witnessed at close quarters Trump's relentless use of stochastic terrorism
Unsubtle threats, not personally focused to leave Trump an obvious out, but clear enough to end up with people being doxxed, being swatted by police, having their children threatened by Trump stooges
Trump knows exactly what he's doing and it has worked to perfection
America is silenced by fear
OK Imma gonna mute this convo
My entire point was that the graphic presentation (which is what people scan for maybe three seconds) paints an entirely different story when viewed on the phone "app" everybody uses now, as opposed to the data presentation in a full-screen web browser tab
Clearly a design choice was made to *not* reformat the data to make the same presentation on any viewing device
And with that...
...i'm out

I have FediDB open in a tab daily
Some time ago I noticed a formatting change (really it was done with the time distribution) whereby in a browser tab, full screen HD 32" monitor, the top page, lead graphs were all virtually flat lines
Just thought to myself 'who would want this data portrayed in such an uninformative way?' but I see now it was reformatted for phones, because as we all know, *everyone* views the web through an "app" on their phones
Docktorow really needs a re-write to discuss the "enappification of the Internet"
That "enshitification" shchtick is so 2000s
So is that how you do it -- make that graph look like it's actually showing something since the recent formatting change?
Looks like you're looking on your phone, and the graph show some uplift at the recent end
Myself, looking full-screen 1920@1080@60p on a 32 inch monitor, full-screen Firefox browser tab, I see only the faintest, softest curves upward
Pretty unimpressive, really
Also interesting to note that the time scale is daily for me with a significant gap between data points, while you've got four-day data points all run together
Interesting to consider *how* the data is presented affects the message delivered, I guess
Bet DanSup and Gargron like the data rendition you see better than the one I see...
The real point here is that the entire Republican party are confirmed, serial, pathological liars
They can take any position at any time and be 100% inoculated against any suggestion of hypocrisy
In their own minds
