There are reports that #ShoppersDrugMart in Ontario is (or will be) charging for #Covid19 RATs, #RapidAntigenTests. The ones provided at no-charge by the province... Apparently, a spokesperson at the Premier's office said that anyone who is charged for a RAT should report it to consumer protection: +1-800-889-9768

I'm a bit surprised that the Dutch PM has been assigned the task of talking sense to Netanyahu. I've been following the Dutch news ("NOS Buitenland", RSS feed https://feeds.nos.nl/nosnieuwsbuitenland ) and the Dutch media seems to be even bigger Israeli apologists than Canadian media.

No deposit on soft drink containers in Ontario either. There IS a deposit on beer bottles and cans, but nothing for wine and liquor bottles.

Sometimes pop cans are stamped with "Deposit fee required in xx, xx, xx" - I don't recall which provinces, but Ontario is not one of them.

What type of verb conjugation does the singular, genderless "they" have?

Eg. "They see a duck" or "They sees a duck" to replace "He sees a duck" ???

I mean, if "they" is singular, it should get the singular form of the verb, right?

All my Mom's Dutch cookbooks measure ingredients by weight for non-liquids (but using units of mass. #NerdPedantry)

She had this marvellous litre-sized measuring cup with different graduations by weight for different foods, like flour, sugar, shredded coconut.

It was conical, smaller at the base than at the top, so measuring small quantities was more precise than measuring large ones.

Sadly, the plastic got grotty and brittle over its 60 year life, so it is no more.

Twice in the last five minutes my @privacybrowser has run into websites displaying a banner "This site works best with #Javascript enabled." Of course, the sites didn't work AT ALL with Javascript deactivated.

Ironically, one site had been redone by a firm specializing in #Accessibilty for conformance with #AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and #WCAG standards. You'd think they'd use language like "activated" and "deactivated" for software instead of "en/disabled".

And the sadness is, Google Maps used to work fine without #Javascript.

I think most web developers (especially Google) have the smarts to build pages that build gracefully depending on browser capability: Showing content first, then style, and finally adding behaviour with Javascript. Content and style is the easy part, make sure it's there first.

So why don't they? Do the client specs require #Javascrippled content so they'll get surveillance?
