Anyone want to bet the streaming industry would be next over the next decade (assuming if we have a democracy)?

Comcast is spinning off most of their cable networks from NBCUniversal (sans Bravo) so yep, the writing is on the wall for a very long time now as traditional cable TV is a dying industry.

@obrien_kat Exactly as this piece isn't truly surprising to me as this shows that we need strong privacy laws everywhere globally. It's not just a US, UK, and/or EU issue now.

@mtechman @travisfw Indeed, it's why I prefer FOSS apps more although I do pay for some if it's the only option.

@mtechman @travisfw Look at the purchases tab or previous purchases. Also there should be reciepts as well.

@travisfw @mtechman It's best to keep that old account as a throwaway one: not use any sensitive/personal data onto it. It's better than just deleting it because you'll lose the Play Store apps that you paid for especially.

I only use a separate account for Play Store apps and Android TV for example.

Yep, streaming TV will continue onto the #enshittification route probably forever at this point. It's why the only legal streaming platform I subscribe to is the Criterion Channel because they haven't gone the way the major players have (yet) and the quality over quantity shows. #Piracy and #physicalmedia are the way to go otherwise.

Keep in mind that Niantic is the company that is co-founded by the man who had a huge hand of making Google Maps what it is today so yeah it's a good thing I never played this but many did and as a result, they're being exploited to the core.

@AAKL I have been saying it for years: I feel this will come to the US at some point and I won't be surprised if the incoming administration orders the same playbook and Apple (and others) lays down and kisses the ring.
