I'm not sure people understand what it means to shut up the CDC et al.

The FDA alerts docs and hospitals when heart and lung machines are exploding *while in use* during bypass surgery.

They notify the medical community when patterns of fungal infections show that equipment isn't being cleaned properly.

When lettuce/carrots are killing people, they notify the public.

Every single thing they do saves American lives.
