@icedquinn The people making American goods live in more than tin shacks. Also the value of a dollar in other countries is much higher than in the US.
As for quality sucking like @tk said, it's because companies make manufacturing jobs into McJobs and make a point to push people out after 2-3 years to avoid unionization, and because they treat the job like it's barely better than Taco Bell, their attitude reflects on the products.
@coolboymew@Hephaestic@mischievoustomato Yeah, I mean, I'm sure it's possible, but I don't want 37 different LoRAs and to run my computer for an hour and sift through pictures of limb piles to get what a proprietary engine can do in a few minutes, but that's the nature of the beast, I guess.
@coolboymew@mischievoustomato@Hephaestic I tried doing this with NoobAI, which is about as good of an open model for anime as you can get, and the results aren't even half as good.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad It's made by Netease so "Free Taiwan" and "Winnie the Pooh" are censored in chat, and they made it so if you lose two games in a row they set you up against bots on easy mode with human-looking user names to keep you engaged
@sun@RustyCrab@azure@eris@icst I'm of the opinion that the decline was happening one way or another, it's just them trying to soften the landing and yet do nothing to actually try to reverse course or give people a semblance of normalcy beyond nudging them into believing decay is the new normal. Unfortunately it looks like it's working. Most everyone under 30 lives like they have nothing to lose, and that's not a healthy foundation for society.
@ins0mniak@Jonny@p That's what gets me about all of the Cambridge Analytica handwringing. They used the service Facebook offers just like any other corporation, and no one stopped to think that maybe Facebook shouldn't do that, but instead decided it's only a problem when it benefits orange man.
