@lina Call it a cope but i'm seriously starting to just see them crawl onto bluesky so we can hope enough of them crawl over to give enough engagement to the narcissists so they decide to stay there.

Not going to lie but anyone else looking at the great bluesky migration as a good thing. The Tumblr poison that was released into the wilds of the internet is willingly going back into a new containment unit Willingly.

@DarkMahesvara @Suzu how much do you want to bet it's because they were close to done the game. A coup in the office happened where they went full DEI, and then they fired or #metoo'd all the competent employees realized that they killed the host. Afterwards they had to throw everything out to remake the game from scratch because everyone who assembled the first run of the game is no longer here.

@Meemoo no wonder riot refuses to let vanguard support linux. :clownpiece_glowie: but jeez that's wild also incredibly disgusting. I'm glad I don't play multiplayer games with kernel level anti-cheat.

@Cayhr @rlier23 @0vtcast At this point I won't be surprised if the future we're all using i2p or Tor if you want anything that isn't full of normie brainrot.

@DarkMahesvara @blueknightfrank Valve generates keys for free for their partners (I recall them not taking a cut on any steam key). So the developers who's selling the key is selling it on their own by distributing it to a storefront to sell the key. So if the keys are bought with stolen credit cards from a authorized key reseller that's entirely on them.
In Valve's case it only really affects them when it comes to steam trading cards so they're now stricter on how many keys you can generate if you have fuck all for actual game sales.
100 sales on steam but wanting to generate 500k keys for steam trading card abuse.

@blueknightfrank fwiw I usually don't mind buying product on steam because they actually do something to benefit me (making proton/wine better which makes linux support of games better).
Better that linux gets more support than be stranded on microshit's increasingly creepy operating system.
Though at this point buying product is more I enjoyed your product you should have money so you can make more.
Devs should promote pirating the game over having someone buy a key off of one of those sketchy websites though.
Those are actually negative money because they're bought with stolen credit cards and other shenanigans which leads to chargebacks.

@Meemoo i think it really just depends on the software. If its something that will be connected to the internet it's probably going to be a good idea to keep it updated lest you become part of some botnet.
:clownpiece_glowie: when you think of all those IoT cameras and whatnot that are connected to the internet still running firmware from 2005 being used to ddos websites/services.
Otherwise I think it's fine to not update software if it works it works provided it's not connecting to the internets.

@Meemoo I'm at the point where if I care about old software I have an airgapped computer that has all the software I want to run it on while being kept offline and if I want to add additional software it'll be by usb..
The alternative is I'll eventually have to learn how to use proxmox so I can emulate the environment required to run the disc image of the above computer so that I can keep running ye olden software in perpetuity.

@mint are these not the same people who are afraid of being lynched if they leave their nice stupidly expensive places to live in the blue cities.
Yet they give up their privacy all for the convenience of using incredibly oppressive moderation tools because they don't want to do the legwork of vetting.

@mint wouldn't the solution to being raided just make a public approval room where a mod then invites the person who wants to join to the actual room. That way they can control how many people join within a timeframe I doubt their community is big enough to need such powerful moderation tools.
Instead they just want discords phone verification tool.

@Pawlicker @jeff @DocScranton I guess I understand why they're 8k in debt over Hentai games makes me wonder if they were dumb enough to not secure their goods by making sure to have dumped all the roms/ ripped all the isos for them.

@Pawlicker @jeff @DocScranton I don't think buying physical copies of games that are probably from a private collection helps fund the devs in making more of said content when a majority of those devs have long since gone under.
They bought to collect physical copies of hentai games stuck on dying mediums and they probably didn't even back it up.
What a waste of money. I make peanuts compared to the person who's in debt and I bet I have more savings then them when I make 1/3rd their yearly wage a year.

@Kyonko802 isn't the deck an actual piece of hardware thats only 150 dollars more for the lowest spec version. The amount of money you would save in the long run is astronomical compared to buying piss nickel games.
