Fedi is still probably the best there is for actual discussion or just sharing your thoughts, but it still is getting worse every passing year.      I've had exactly this feeling many times over the years and I think it's that kirby identified a problem and doesn't know how to solve/improve it.
     
     I would want more people on here, since a lot of previously good fedizens turned to just posting about random politics I and a lot of people don't care about. The shitposting atmosphere mostly vanished as new people came from Twitter with their natural trolling persona. But at the same time, when you invite new people here, they likely be from the unfunny trolling side of the Internet. The fact that there aren't many good instances with open regs on this side anymore is also a big contributor in the current slow death of Fedi.
