    @Clippy One of the things you unlock after the first run is a free-for-all mode which is incredibly imbalanced and retarded (turn order is a fuck, for a start; it is entirely possible to take two turns in a row, or have an opponent take two turns in a row). You can choose which nation to play as, and each one has its own special ability, eg. miko institute's is that every miko unit gets +5 troops every turn.
    Hara's is that you lose gold every turn because Aki spends it.

    @Clippy (I think I have started an FFA game as someone other than miko institute, but I have never given it more than a few turns. I have "won" an FFA game as mikos, but I didn't finish... I can't remember if it was Shimazu or youkai kingdom. I had one of them on neutral while I fought the other, and turns out that the end condition is "no active opponents", I thought I could take a turn to breathe in between. I am currently losing another attempt, I've got 3 territories so far.)

    When you release prisoners, for each 5 you release you get an item. So you want to release them in batches of 5.
    IIRC the item is +1 level to a commander, it's happy pokoru.

    @Clippy Fishface has a very small amount of value to recruit, if you butter him up for a while he gives you a reasonably decent item (+1 all stats binding or smth), he is completely fucking useless otherwise. I generally consider him not worth the item.
