@get The Australian election that just happened, basically every party except the major parties agreed that immigration is fucking up our country and all disagreed on how much we should limit it to. And the most anti-tranny party was the fucking libertarian party.
>Modifying characters are really a mistake, as then you have to do operations on multiple unicode characters (multiple words), rather than operations on a single characters (single words). Implementation problem; a good concept can result in good implementations, a bad concept will result in bad implementations.
@Suiseiseki@cathywilcox >a few hours downtime every few months That could be troublesome, particularly during summer. I guess you could just stick two of them side-by-side and offset the process, run only essentials during it. I wonder if that's more or less hassle than just having a big battery.
@Suiseiseki You didn't actually answer the question. So putting it another way... Can software be free, in and of itself? If two people use a computer, one who compiled and installed the software, and one who doesn't know about it, then yes, of course, that second person does not have freedom when using the computer, but is the software proprietary in their hands, and free in the first person's hands? Granted, the question is rather irrelevant, because we don't care about the software being free, but the freedom of the people using it.
@Suiseiseki It's actually an interesting question; if someone takes free software, compiles it, and gives you the result without telling you where it comes from, is it proprietary? If you then find where it comes from, compile it yourself and get hash match on the result, does it suddenly become free?
