    @p @amerika @maxmustermann I suspect a lot of it is fairy tales, and the glowies are perfectly happy to take credit for being omnipresent masters of everything. Burnishes the image without costing the budget.

    The blowback from the wild stuff they actually tried, like Kaczynski embarrassing them after MK Ultra, had to have clipped their wings.

    @dictatordave @PNS Every now and then the question "why not just build a pre-electronics vehicle today" gets asked. Usually the response is regulations require a lot of the modern garbage. But has anyone sat down and figured out what the minimum street legal vehicle is in 2026?

    Slop summary but still accurate. It's an interesting idea on paper, getting normally unpaid FOSS people into official standards work. But I bet the actual people who get the money will be highly screened, on a tight leash, and carefully balanced for "representation" of the least helpful kind.
