    buying breakout boards/"modules" seems kinda lame. I want see how cost-effective I can theoretically design. I think this requires using surface mounted parts, which seems to require custom PCBs.

    I have no idea wtf I'm doing tbh

    @tard yeah the ESP32 S3 has bluetooth and wifi, that's kinda the whole point. Thinking of wiring up a gyro/accelerometer to it so you can shake it and cause the pet to bash against the walls. Imagine if you could add some haptic feedback. Like a fidget toy + digital pet. The Pikachu Pokemon tamagachi thing was like this, it was a pedometer, but all the kids would just shake it forever.

    Isn't it sus giving kids pedometers? Why would kids want to measure pedophilia? :thinkerman:

    because I'm gamedev brained I guess this is going to be the end result of my ESP32 tinkering.

    I got it drawing to the screen at 60FPS which is pretty good.

    I found a fast and small audio codec called QOA (same guy who made QOI). It sucks there's no single header opus library floating around. stb-man said he wasn't gonna write one because of licensing issues.

    I think I'm going to use a 4bit per pixel palette (15 colors + transparent). The ST7789 chip in my LCD can do a 12-bit pixel mode (which is a pain to pack), so 4 bits per color channel.

    I need to find the perfect palette.

    I wanna write a optimized thing and see how fast I can drive this thing on SPI. The off the shelf drivers are not very optimal. Lots of drawing directly to the screen instead of an internal framebuffer. Obviously it's a memory bandwidth bottleneck but the embedded people are retarded.
