@luckytran (deep heavy sigh) I was wondering what the fallout would be and if there were any mitigating efforts in place because I did not see a single mask wearer during the bits I watched. It was and is unsettling and depressing.
@AnthonyJK@chargrille@aral@LALegault I don't think this has anything to do with the BadSpace. -OP's issue is due to a very large instance making a moderation decision that affects people on that instance. -My understanding of the BadSpace is an openly curated list contributed to by many moderators to prevent bad actors from causing harm, with justification, & is open & available for moderators to use or not. This case seems like Mastodon.Social moderators non-transparently doing something.
@holyramenempire@jik Pessimism without solutions demoralizes and demotivates me. Knowing things are bad but that there are things we can do to fix things, OR that we don't know, but other people care to try motivates me to brainstorm and do what I can.
@MisuseCase This makes a lot of sense. Biden went against the train workers union in fall/winter of 2022 because it would impact delivery of goods right before Christmas and create price hikes, but he/his administration never stopped working to help the union get their demands met. And the head union negotiator acknowledged this when success was achieved. (May 2023) https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/may/01/railroad-workers-union-win-sick-leave
@ieure@thomasfuchs They refunded me! It was minus one month usage, but that's FINE. Thank you both for suggesting I ask for a refund!!!!!!! :bop_cat:😃🤩😺
@emilygorcenski I just finished reading your article, "Making God". I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and knowledge. Before reading it, I had trouble making sense of some of what I've read on AI, AGI, Longtermism, Altruism, and intellectualism. Now, the high level of fixation, praise, and passion makes more sense. And I feel validated and less crazy about my own discomfort with the hype. Thank you.
@feditips Thank you. Knowing how to avoid horrid content up front will help me feel more comfortable about using/viewing content on PeerTube servers.
Also, I follow 3 of the 4 people in that heated thread, and I'm glad you are addressing what was raised. And I'm especially glad at how diplomatic and caring you are being in how you are addressing it.🙏🏽
@thomasfuchs So, is Firefox not good on Macs due to energy use? (I use Firefox with privacy badger for most of my browsing, and only occasionally used Safari.)
Someone stated, "Not saying, out loud and in the first sentence, that #Hamas killing babies and seniors and other civilians indiscriminately is unacceptable makes me tune out all that follows." This has me pondering on the impact & effect of clear communication & active listening. This is a stressful time & malicious actors are pushing/sharing disinfo to circumvent reason & to stoke strong emotions. What is something you wish people would acknowledge before commenting on the situation?
@stevelord Wow. I so needed this. I'll likely spend the better part of the next several weeks discovering music to add to my playlists. Thank you for sharing this! (Also, the "About" section is a hoot.)
