@hellomiakoda One friend of mine, before she could get her prescription refilled, was told to come in for a urine test so they could make sure she was taking it and not, I don’t know, feeding it to pigeons or something.

This was in 2021 and one of her kids had congenital lung problems, so she was able to get an exemption and AFAIK they haven’t bothered her about a urine test again.

A guy where I work was doing a presentation where he gushed about how a woman in a village in a developing county could diagnose the cause of her child’s fever and diarrhea using AI: I said it sounded like they could use clean drinking water much more than AI. Really took the wind out of the presenter’s sails but he needed a reality check.

@inthehands Estonia’s government recently came out and said something along these lines: the problem is not that social media is specifically bad for minors, and age gating is not going to fix it. The things that make it bad for minors make it nas for *everyone* and they are deliberate, fixable, design choices that can be prohibited by law.

@anildash @carnage4life One thing I have heard about people discovering all this useful stuff they could do with AI is that it was actually possible to do before AI, with deterministic code/a little scripting/using features or tools in a certain way, but people didn’t know how to do it or even that it was possible before they could ask an AI to do it for them.
