@dansup Hi! Not sure if you are the right person to ask, but I’m looking for a setting in the #Pixelfed app (iOS) to auto play gifs and videos. Not sure if I just can’t find it or if it’s not there. If not, are there any plans to add such a feature?

@aral @gunchleoc Depending on which of those two sides wins, even this remaining “theatre“ could be in danger. As a European I was always astonished about the political system in the US that can have a minority winning over the majority vote.

Naja, wenn man sich die Umfragen so anschaut, kann man nur hoffen, dass ein Großteil davon lügt oder es sich am Ende doch noch anders überlegt.
Es wäre theoretisch auch eine (Minderheits-)Regierung aller anderen außer fckAfd denkbar, doch wie handlungsfähig und stabil diese dann wäre, müsste sich zeigen. In jedem Fall würde die Rechte das weiterhin für ihre Propaganda ausznutzen (die “Altparteien”, bzw. neuerdings “Kartellparteien" seien undemokratisch, unfähig, usw.).

Lemmy.ml is just an instance, and if you don’t like it, you can join any other instance, like lemmy.world or others and enjoy their content. I like #Lemmy because it’s pretty close to Reddit.

Once you have picked a service, you have to choose an instance for that service, which is much more difficult if you have no idea where to start.

@dansup @pixelfed I‘m not sure if I understand that feature correctly. Do you get - when you do that - Mastodon content (from your followed accounts) in your Pixelfed app, or does it just save you creating a separate account for Pixelfed (for viewing Pixelfed content)?

I see so many posts about it, but I’m still not sure what it’s all about.

Oh, ok. That’s sad. I had an account there, too in 2018, but there wasn’t too much going on. I was primarily looking for some kind of privacy friendly social network at that time.

Mastodon became popular with the Twitter Exodus. I am here for 5 years now, but used it only rarely when it was a cosy little nerd community.
I thinks the different #Fediverse services should try to target people to leave the commercial networks and join the corresponding #Fediverse services, like:
Twitter => #Mastodon
Facebook => #Diaspora (is this still a thing?)
Instagram => #Pixelfed
Each of them is different, but all of them become more interesting when more people are on them
