Because you use #hashtags so that people can find your posts. Otherwise, there is no reason to use them. People follow and search hashtags. Otherwise, your posts are just for your followers.

If there’s one annoying aspect about Mastodon it’s that people reply to posts without reading threads.

Often, I ask, “Why don’t people click on messages to see if it’s part of a thread?”

Because they don’t, that seems like a problematic aspect of the UI/UX.

So maybe it would just be easier if there was some indicator in Mastodon that a message is part of a thread.

I understand the consent for someone's data when it's a company collecting, but when it's being used to enhance the experience of both the internet at large and the experience of the poster being able to be discovered? Not wanting search is silly.

I think having a consent term in the profile or post is probably the least likley to cause un-intended opt-ins but if the consent is there the method isnt as important.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask. My prejudice is that if it's public it should be searchable, in the context it was published at least.

@atomicpoet @fediversenews Oh, and I’m actually using Tusky, which also works perfectly with Akkoma.

@pimeys I take that back. Tusker also has compatibility with Pleroma. Not as good Husky, though.

I think iOS sucks for Pleroma is because devs are myopic about Mastodon.

Also tested my Pleroma server with the official Mastodon app for iOS.

The official Mastodon app is the best Pleroma client on iOS.
