Combine that with the shoes and I got a real vibe of ''I'm and art and/or gender studies major and I'm gonna make it everyone else's problem". Anyway, she pulls up and gets out with like five kids.
Five normal looking, well behaved kids ages like 12 to six. I thought she was just being the weird aunt babysitting to feel some semblance of motherhood, but based on how they interacted she clearly was their mother, their caring, loving mother.

They got an ice cream sundae and a couple of cones and behaved themselves as properly as could be.

If you stay West of.... I'll say Haymarket on 66, stay out of Richmond (violent apes) or Charlottseville (commie pinkos), it's pretty decent. I have a few friends that live in Richmond so I don't mind stopping to visit them when I roll through.

The I-81 corridor, Shenandoah Valley, has some really gorgeous views South of I-66.

Most of the state South / Southwest of I-64 can be pretty bucholic, delightfully so.

A GF of mine had a college friend like that. She threw a little childish tempter tantrum in a restaurant because they wouldn't serve her a grilled cheese sandwich off the kid's menu.
Last I saw of her she called herself Elm or Alder some other tree name and has been insisting she's a dude. She would also stand outside for an hour or so a day ''Getting nutrients from the sun and the Mother Earth [dirt]" like a tree.

Real shame, her mom was a very sweet old lady and a widow. I really hope she hasn't had to see her only child like that any longer.
